Hello Fellow Artists & Musicians Cultures and Education

I am a painter and an art teacher. I often find that I put so much creative energy into teaching that I have little left for my own work. I am taking a drawing class starting soon just to force me to make a little art time for myself. I am looking for a man who is creative in some way, any way. Otherwise, he probably would not understand me.

I love to be surrounded by artistic, creative people and to feel the colour, form and texture of art in all it's forms. I was fortunate enough to study art in NZ, London and Paris and have worked as an artist in various professions.

I couldn't live with out music. A few years ago I had some poetry and short stories published, but I love to work with fabrics and hand embroidery.

lol, had I looked around a bit more, I'd have found this thread instead of posting a new one about this.

Alot of musicians in here, that's awesome :)
I'm a professional lyricist, and author of a book of poetry.
Music and lyrics are my passion, I play the keyboard, but I don't compose my own music, I've been lucky enough to work with people from all over for that :)

It's really cool to know there are so many artists of different types on here.

We live in a beautiful world, I envy those who can capture it in color, with the stroke of a brush, or tip of a pencil.

Come to think of it, it would be awesome to have a thread where people could share their talents with others here :)

I think these days our would-be poets are often our contemporary musicians. There are some amazing lyricists out there, not always in a flowery sentimental way but in a more grounded, more real style. I can think of a number of songs that can move me to tears, sometimes from a particularly poignant line, other times just because I feel a connection with what is being said.
With so many genres of music around, I'm sure many of us miss out on today's wordsmiths simply through a preference for a different type of music.

I agree with Sharpey ..... I love to laugh too, and I like to make people laugh, though my dry sarcasm doesn't touch everyone, lol. Let's not take ourselves too seriously and enjoy the ride .....

I can also cook. I suppose anyone who is creative can do all of these things if they set their mind to it.

I also believe that anyone who is artistic can better appreciate the beauty in the world that is all around them and better understand and feel how sad it is that we are playing a part in destroying it all.

I once argued with my Oxford Professor who told me that All Art is Politics, I disagreed. Art can be for arts sake and it is this art which is usually the best art of all.

I just wish there had been better poets throughout the ages. People still find it difficult to express in words how they feel, what they have experienced and their moments of love and loss and seldom ever put into words which reflect how they truly felt at the time.

The best form of creativity for me is having a good sense of humour and sharing a laugh with people. It is a good skill as it makes people feel good.

I do a great rendition of Jingle Bells on the guitar and my Londons Burning and Good King Wenceslas on the recorder mustn't be missed!

I'd love to be artistic but my most creative talents are in cooking... I think my practical genes outnumber the artistic ones but my carrot cake is second to none!!

    Hi Folks

I studied Art at a local Art college then went on to study it at Oxford University. But I'm more musical than I am artistic and like to amuse myself by learning to play as many different musical instruments as I can.

I much prefer to date people who are creative and who are interested in the Arts, Poetry, Literature, Heritage, Local History, people who can play a musical instrument and I like people who enjoy the great outdoors and nature. Fishing and stuff like that.

I suppose it depends on your birth sign quite a bit too, i'm Nemo by the way.

I'll jump on the bandwagon too!

I love art, in various forms, drawing, painting, ... oil paints are fun but my goodness ... the chemicals needed STINK!

I recently acquired a tablet for my PC, it lets me sketch on it straight to my PC as if it were a sketch pad!

Also my favorite form of art, music. I love listening to old blues, metal, rock etc etc.

Myself I've played guitar for about 8 years now I'm not that great, but I love it.

sigh, art... I love it. Painting/drawing is my meditation. It's really hard to find someone who has the same interests... LOL, most guys think it's boring.

Music happens to be my greatest passion, I love it! I've been singing in choirs for about 10 years, but I more enjoy just writing my own music. I have been trying to teach myself to play acoustic guitar but there doesn't seem to be enough time in a day! I also love to paint, do craft projects, write poetry, and design clothing. I am greatly attracted to artistic men, in any sense of the word!

    NanookieNYC write:
I am currently writing essays, both humorous and political about a white girl living in Harlem.

...passionate about something whether it be creative, political or even the mundane.

I would like to read one of your essays, sounds interesting. I enjoy that sort of writing. Have you read The Fat Girl's Guide to Life. It is a political/humorous work.

I agree about passion. I enjoy being around people who are passionate about something, anything. The last guy I dated was just flatline about everything. It was infuriating.

I'm a musican... or limited musician I should say.

I play keyboard by ear... at church. And I sing alto or tenor.

I'm not musically trained, but do read music, self taught and high school. I especially love to sing in trios... I love the harmony!

I LOVE arty boys, guys who play guitars and sing you a song or paint you a picture. It's my weakness, because they make good lovers, but it's also my pain, because I have caught a few of them singing songs to other girls.

I love writing and often do it late at night. It's great therapy, and also great to flex your creative muscle. I do write as a profession, but it is all marketing and BS writing. I am currently writing essays, both humorous and political about a white girl living in Harlem.

As for a mate, I just need to know they have other interests outside me and a relationship. I am attracted to people, whether it be women or men, who are passionate about something whether it be creative, political or even the mundane.

I too am a singer/musician.... although life has gotten in the way of my passion recently. It is not necessary to me for my mate to be artistic... I mean.. think about it... two artist together... could be dangerous!

Well I like to paint, I come from an artistic background, my father being an artist, he was Australia Zoos (steve Irwins zoo) resident artist until he passed in June 2005 and was an amazing artist, the talent came through to my sis and my bro as well, wish I was as good as him tho ! I also like doing crafty things and making my own presents for people , I also take singing lessons and am trying to teach myself Keyboard and guitar .... its a lot to juggle on a day to day basis, but its great therapy !! Nice to see other creative people on here too

Gidday from Australia!Iam a Dermagraphic artist or better known as a Tattooist.I have been for the past 24 years.Ihave worked in different jobs where my artistic skills are required but i always enjoy working with the best canvas on the planet and that is skin.Ican't think of any other type of work wich makes me feel as privaleged to create. To create a peice of work that adorns a persons body and to see how pleased they are when im finished is in its self inspiring.
