There are scammers posing as American men and women using this site. I found out the hard way via the US State Department & SECRET SERVICE. Please be careful. There are also men who are forgetting to mention thet are sex addicts and alcoholics using this site. I am a smart woman and ran background checks, but still got hurt and scammed.

Can you explain more on how you check people out?

Letting other women know that there are nasty people accessing this site. I have advised Largefriends of recent concerns and this is being investigated...but beware there are hackers as well as scammers.  I think this is appalling and have become disappointed with the notion of using these sites in future.

Wondering if we could out the scammers as we find them?  Identify their username so we all know who to watch out for on this site.
Good on those women who have taken action.  Hope LargeFriends takes note of our concerns and reporting.

I looked on Google and it said 419 meant "Nigerian email scam."
Scammers abound all throughout the web and the world. I think a lot of them are psychopaths (also known as sociopaths). I had emails from a couple of those types recently and one thing I noticed is that they don't seem to be able to be truly RESPONSIVE. That is, they have their agenda and their "lines," but they don't really know how to respond to other criteria, almost like it doesn't exist, unless it is framed as a question from you to them.
It's a very tricky thing and they can be very smooth. One very common thing a psychopath will do is tell a sob story: his child or wife was recently killed, etc. -- because they want to play on your feelings. They don't have those kinds of feelings, but they want to play on yours.
Yet it is very difficult to suss out. I recommend not giving out your phone number or email address until you truly feel you have a reason to feel it is time to share such personal information.

    Hi Doxie,
I'm a Newbie to all of this. How did you find out about Hackers? What exactly do they do?

Hey it's simple - a request for cash is not a test of your love - its a test of your gullability. DO NOT DO IT. Cut them off ASAP. They are not worth your love.

Everyone really needs to be cautious. I met someone on this site claiming to be in the military stationed in Iraq. Now I am not sure. He wanted to immediately start talking on a Yahoo site. He did not get around to asking me for money because I asked him to send me an email from his military email account. Needless to say I haven't heard anymore from him in a week.
