Whos into reality TV shows. I admit, I watch Big brother, I know its trash tv, but for some reason, I like it.I hate fear factor, and those Bachelor, bachelorette shows. Extreme makeover, heh, I just wanna see the before and after, I don't need the whole show. Its interesting, though, a friend of mine made the statement that reality tv shows are putting real actors out of business. What do you think?

I know I shouldn't get s*cked into these shows but there I am.... glued to or running in the background - other people's lives. Some are just plan mindless entertainment. But every now and then a spark of truth prevails. Despite my PBS leanings....I'll be watching American Idol this week! What about you?

I cannot take it anymore!! I tried to hang in there, but I cannot watch another episode of this year's "Survivor". I started watching it last week--reluctantly, I might add--and I could not garner enough interest in it to stay awake long enough to make it to the first commercial. And to make it worse, I only napped for an hour which energized me enough to start flipping channels and watching television until at least 1AM that night.

All I can say about "Survivor" now is...ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

After refusing to watch "Survivor" for the last five seasons, I watched it last night. "Why?", you may ask. I watched it because of the so-called "controversial" twist: grouping the castaways together by race. I am not naive enought to believe that the winner of the game will prove that the winner's race is superior than the other races. I have to admit that I am watching because of the controversy.

A few weeks ago, I saw an interview in which member of an organization called "10,000 Black Men" and a television critic were debating whether or not the concept was racist. I thought it was crass that a man from an important organization on the level as "10,000 Black Men" would lower himself to debate with a television critic about this kind of thing. The fact that he thought that it was a bad idea, made me want to watch the show because I wanted to make the decision for myself. I will admit that I am watching because the casting is racially diverse. I cannot think of any other program on television in which there are the same number of blacks, latinos and asians in the cast as there are white people. AND where the non-whites are not cast in a racially stereotypical role. I guess that what the program is doing, in its corny way is showing us that network programming and production is just another racist institution in our society. But then again, didn't we all know that??

With that in mind, I don't know which team I am rooting for. There is at least one equally hot man on each of the teams. I love asian food. Everything that is said in the Spanish language sounds seductive and is pleasing to my ear. Nothing looks better to me than a brotha with locks and a "six pack". White folks are my future in-laws. What's a woman to do??

I watched the first episode of this year's "The Bachelor" and was immediately captured by it. It wasn't because of the "romantic" aspect of it, though that got my attention. What got me was the cheeziness of it. Yes, the bachelor was handsome, but it was very obvious that he was out of his league when it came to his selection of women. It struck me odd that a MD would use the word "amazing" to describe everything. And I got a kick out of how soon everyone started to "develop feelings" for someone that they only got to know on a superficial level.

Despite it's cheeziness and lack of reality, I have to admit that the bachelor and his harem kept me intrigued. Why? I don't know.

They need to make a reality show were.. All the producers of the reality shows.. Get tossed into a lion cage with a steak tied to there LoL.. Some are ok some are mind numbing.. I usta like the one 3 wishes.. Was nice to see people just doing nice stuff for others.. And not just trying to win them selves money.. I personally would rather watch the discovery channel.. At least there it's reality you can learn something from..

I'll admit me and the tivo(nerd alert!) watch our fair share of Reality TV.
Favorites include
- Project Runway (squee! I heart Jay Mccaroll)
- Extreme Makeover:Home Edition (which is also a full on weepfest)
- American Idol- which is bad and so incredibly good at the same time.
- Any take on the whole Real World/Road Rules Challenge
- I was also hopelessly sucked into a vortex called Laguna Beach over the network.

help!

What's Surface about? I didn't realize that was a reality show. I must have it confused with something else.

Kew, I agree with you--it grew on me, at least at first but now with all my favorite teams gone (the Blacks, the father-in-law/sons-in-law, and the Gaghans), I'm kind of bored with it. I had no idea how much the foreign locales added to the show until they sent them to find the World's Largest Office Chair! I'll be happy when the old Amazing Race returns.

I didn't think I would like it at first, but it grew on me. I actually have started to like it. Although I was sad to see the family with the two little kids leave. I wanted them to win.

OMG!!!!!!!!!! i'm such a reality TV junkie...it's getting worse with all the new shows...i've actually cancelled dates cause i didn't want to miss one of my favorite shows.

I have one word for you...TiVo. It is a wonderful invention. I don't know if they have it where you are but I know I wouldn't live without it. I can record all my favorite shows without putting in a tape and watch when I want without the commercials.

I too am a reality TV junkie. Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race, Americas next top model, Extreme home makeover....love them all.
