FATTYBOOM- IN A PERFECT WORLD YOU GET WHAT YOU GIVE BUT, UNFORTUNATELY, WE DO NOT LIVE IN A UTOPIA. ITS NOT WRONG TO FEEL HURT WHEN YOUR GENEROSITY ON A SOCIAL, FINANCIAL, OR EMOTIONAL LEVEL IS NOT RECIPROCATED BUT YOU SHOULD BE GIVING IF IT IS PART OF YOU AND IT IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO. THAT WAY IF IT IS NOT APPRECIATED YOU HAVE THE SATISFACTION OF KNOWING YOU DID ALL YOU COULD DO AS THE KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE AND WANT TO BE. YOU CAN'T EXPECT EVERYONE TO BE LIKE YOU. YOU ARE SETTING YOURSELF UP FOR DISSAPPOINTMENT. YOU CAN ONLY HOPE. HOPE AND LEARN. THAT'S THE ONE GOOD THING ABOUT HURT AND PROBABLY THE ONLY GOOD THING ABOUT IT- YOU LEARN. YOU SHOULD EXPECT THE WORST BUT HOPE FOR THE BEST. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS CYNICAL BUT IT'S THE FACT JACK. WHAT I MEAN IS THAT YOU ALSO HAVE TO BE SMART ABOUT GIVING OF YOURSELF. YOUR SURVIVAL INSTINCTS SHOULD KICK IN AS WELL. YOU KNOW- YOUR GUT FEELING. YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE TO THE DETRIMENT OF YOUR HEALTH, WEALTH, OR SOUL. THAT'S WHEN YOU HAVE GIVEN TOO MUCH. THE OLD SAYING "GIVE TILL IT HURTS" SHOULD ONLY APPLY TO THOSE PEOPLE AND THINGS THAT YOU KNOW ARE CLOSE TO YOUR HEART. YOU ARE STILL VERY YOUNG. YOU CAN AFFORD TO GO SLOW AND THINK WITH YOUR MIND AND YOUR HEART.

I don't let it bother me I give 100% all the time and if others can't equal that then who cares, it's their loss not mine. I don't have time to worry about what i've said or done to offend people, if they can't accept that I wouldn't do or say anything unless I meant well by it then they can sod off (is that being profane?)

Half the people on here just seem to sit back and expect it all to land on their doorstep, the concept of them being pro active doesn't even occur to them.

I don't really have time for people who play games or who are less than genuine.

It's the head that controls the heart your heart doesn't have a brain of it's own. The only thing that your heart does is to pump blood around your body, it's a pump. You can even get a mechanical heart if your old one get's broken. Which proves that your centre of emotion is inside your brain. Imagine sending someone a valentines card with a picture of a brain on it...lol. Hey I should have that idea copyright protected.

The point being that you can't afford to allow any of it to get you down. There are always more fish in the sea and one day you will find your Nemo. Trust me there is always someone for everyone and the longer it takes to find them the better it will be for you.

hi carl,
the problem is that sometime you are that way and then you find you are surrounded not by 1000 friends but 1000 leeches who suck everything out of you. i agree you should always be kind and helpful, however you also have to realize who you are dealing with. some people see niceness as a weakness and will take advantage of you. you give your heart and they toss it in the garbage can. you just have to use wisdom and guard the things that are precious to you. you have a lock on your door to protect your house, your income in an insured bank to protect your money, why not protect your heart as well?

i think you are right saty. i believe you have to follow your guts. my experience has been that if you expect something- often you dont get it. i have taught myself to do for others because i feel it is the right thing to do and not expect appreciation or reciprication. i have found this type of emotional detachment helpful in not being overwhelmed by disappointment.
what do you think fattyboom?
