Your statement conflicts itself. You may have been taught christianity, but if you had been a 'born again' christian, that means you would have 'experienced' the salvation that you were taught... therefore how can you now deny something you have experienced?

As a Christian, I am saddened by those who were taught Christianity and have chosen to reject it. It goes to show they were taught a religion... not a relationship.

I read this statement... thought it supported how I feel:

Actually, Jesus has been resurrected and reborn a total of 17,436 times since he originally appeared.

It's gotten so bad that the Vatican were forced to hire hitmen and take out a restraining order.

So evidently he's now at something of a loss. But you'd think he'd have found a better place than a closet.

The barrista at the shop I usually buy my coffe at claims Jesus lives in his closet, and never does the laundry. I'll send him your way.

Besides which, has anyone noticed how TV preachers don't pronounce it Jesus but "Cheeses"?

Okay... I made the last one up but if you listen to those evangelical preachers, it's a lot more fun once you realised that they're going on and on about Cheese.

I found Jesus -- we shared some smoke, shared a few jokes, and chatted about life -- but i've lost him again. If you see him tell him he still has my lighter. He should be easy to spot, as he was wearing Vans, jeans and still had his "Hi my name is Jesus" sticker on his pink I heart unicorns t-shirt.

So let me recap...

A guy creates a thread in which he describes not just atheists but people of other faiths as "lost".

People respond by making fun of him.

And we're the ones that are intolerant?

When I arrived on these forums, the religion forum was largely inactive. Most of the threads were very self-satisfied things where people talked about how wonderful it was to be saved. On the whole, it was pretty clearly the case that if you weren't a fundamentalist christian, you weren't welcome.

People understandably took issue with this and now, not only is there more posting on this particular forum but people of different viewpoints feel able to express themselves freely and robustly.

On the whole I'd say that was a definite improvement over smug fundies bemoaning the fact that everyone isn't a smug fundie like them.

As for me, I'm an equal-opportunities pouncer. Never knowingly unoffensive :-) I think all beliefs are equally silly and will refrain from making jokes about none of them.

It's just that Christianity is such a good target. I mean eternal fire and torture awaits all who would dare to question God's infinite love... that's one of the funniest things I've ever heard :-)

well, I guess I didn't because it's Ritchie.... I don't mean anything mean there... but I always take that into consideration when I read his posts. It just hurts when I see people make fun of or mock someone who really can't help it. The way I took his post was that he is a Christian and he doesn't want to see anyone die and go to hell without knowing there is a way out. Granted, most of you do not believe the way he does, but there are lots of us who do and pray for many of you. Some of us have strong beliefs in our Christian faith and we do not slam someone for not believing like we do, but when a Christian posts something, they get pounced on. I know some in this world take pleasure doing that, but I think that God gave us each a free will to make those decisions for ourselves. I never try to push my beliefs off on someone else and that is why I have steered clear of the religion forums. Frankly, it is brutal. I wish you all every happiness in the world!

There are certain things that should not be spoken of in dating rituals. Religion and politics. One will never convert another to their way of thinking and the arguement goes on ad nauseum. This are things we need to agree to disagree on.

Calling people of other faiths and atheists "the lost" is not just an opinion. It's a very moralistic judgement of people who aren't christian.

Not everyone is christian, anyone who seriously thinks that these people are somehow "Lost" deserves everything they get.

On a discussion forum you live and die by your words.

I'm sorry... but I do not believe anyone should be mocked or ridiculed on here for any reason. Yes, he may be slow or something... but that is not his fault... and certainly no reason to make fun of him.

I don't normally post in this section because my faith is very important to me and I choose not to set it up for others to mock and ridicule, BUT...

Although I do not agree with the wisdom of many who preach on these boards... I don't think it's the place, I do protect and defend their right to say what they want in the way they want.

I just don't understand why we have to ridicule someone for their belief... if you don't believe the same, fine... but at least respect that they have the right to their opinions and feelings.

I think it may have to do with some of his other posts on these boards as well.

Why the negativity? The man was just trying to ...witness. It may have not been the most effective method but I give him props for trying.
