Dating a younger man? Message board Forward to friends

I don't look for age particularly, I look for maturity and stability.

I guess because of the inablitity of my ex to hold a job for any length of time, that is very important to me... and that has nothing to do with age. In fact, I think I've met more younger men that have stability than I have older men. Alot of the older men that have contacted me are on disability, unemployeed... whatever. Nothing wrong with that, it's just not what I'm looking for in my future.

I want someone that is active and able to enjoy their life as they get older.

Secondly... if you're unemployeed... how can you afford to date anyway? Makes me wonder if they're looking for a 'sugar momma'. lol

Young guys, old guys, I think each situation has to be taken individually. Some younger guys and some older guys aren't what I'm looking for. Then again, I do meet some interesting guys and want to get to know them better!

I think it all depends on the individual guy and how he and I get along. I don't go by ages, although I really don't want to date someone young enough to be my child, after that, I don't really look into the age thing all that much.

And my dad is in his mid 90's so I don't have to worry about dating someone his age! LOL

Good luck to everyone in finding your perfect match-no matter what the age!

Well, coming from "an OLDER lady"...
I've set my limits (per se) to 10 yrs above & 10 yrs lower. The oldest man that I've dated at my present age is by 5 yrs & the same in the other younger direction.
When I first decided to join the "live" portion of the human race & date, I met with a 38 yr old man and we really didn't mesh and I honestly do think that age had something to do with it. I get lots of interest from very young men, but I just don't feel comfortable in that situation. I agree with others that it would creep me out to date someone my sons age. On the other hand, a man too much older & we may not mesh either.

I guess it's a generational issue for me.

.......of course, nothing is etched in stone. One never knows what the future may present.

I know what you mean Jack. Reading this makes me feel like an old fuddy-duddy. The hot young women think I'm too old, the hot women my age think I'm too old, the hot women older than me think I'm too young...

The idea of dating someone younger is kinda weird to me.I would however give it a try. I guess for anyone it would depend on if the person was sincere and honest.

Oh-hum, looks like i'm stuck at that funny age at he minute, too old to be a toyboy, too young to be a true OLDER-MAN. (offers to prove otherwise are welcome, lol ..)
As I always say, your only as old as the woman you feel, or in most of your cases the man..

Younger? Hmmm, after my divorce I did the younger guy was AWESOME. I was in it for one thing. So was he. But it was worth it. Mancandy. Now? Someone I can have fun with, who is settled in his life and having me in it would just make things better, that'd be nice!
But honestly? My dad is a cool dad, young looking, dates lots of young gals...SO FOR ME? I just cant look at an older guy and be attracted without thinking "hope this guy isnt old enought to be my father!" LOL

Of course there are always exceptions.
Any good looking older man, good job, nice house, been there done that, looking for a serious relationship...ok, I'd give THAT guy a chance - HEHEHEHEHEHE

Well personally I love younger men. I find that they are much more fun to be around, and like they say age is just a number. I have dated guys that were as young as 19. Im 40 they don't seem to have a problem with it and neither do I. Don't get me wrong there are some very hot older men but most just seem to remind me of my dad. I feel more comfortable with younger men, possibly because I don't act like a normal 40yr old. I like to go out and have fun not just sit home or go for a Sunday drive. I'm not saying thats what all older men like to do, but most are too mature for my liking.

I've never dated anything but younger men. I just don't seem to care for older men. Seems like I'm dating my dad. My guy's 9 years younger than me and we're just great. So I think it all boils down to personal preference.

Personally, it's more relaxing. I love younger men, I dated an older man and I will never do it again. I will be a fifty, sixty, hell maybe a seventy year old woman chasing a younger man. For me I feel free to be crazy, wild and funny, and it's cool. Who wants to sit on the couch all day... So whats up with you! JJ

I never thought I'd date someone younger - - but what's that old cliche - - never say never........well I have - and yes I would again, and again - LMAO (that is if my "one and only" doesn't hurry and come along)......

It is a preference thing. I don't really have anything against younger guys, but at the same time, when we get to the "what do you like to do in your spare time?" questions, there is often a huge gap. Crowded bars and nightclubs make me very uncomfortable, and most men younger than me are in their early 20' that age, that tends to be where most of your friends go on the weekends. Well, at least in my experience anyway. And no, I'm not saying they all go to get drunk, etc. Lots of them just go to dance, and relax and have fun. The sad thing is, I get so anxious in places like that, i can't ever enjoy myself, and I would not want to divide someone from their friends.

Well I think it just comes down to personal perference.

I for one have never been with anyone younger. I have always been in relationships with older men. I guess its because the women don't think you will be mature enough for them, which is a shame because they may be missing out on a good thing.

I actually would choose a younger man over an older one (if his approach was smooth). I seem to have more fun with the younger ones that aren't set in there ways so much so that they become stale. I work a lot and when I do play I want to play with someone that can have fun. They do however need to be mature and self-sufficient as I am not a meal ticket,& I can't be his mother figure(but,He can lay in my bosom and call me Ma).

I have no problem dating younger guys at all. Guess it's situation specific. You might have to work a little harder though to convince them that you're not just looking for a meal ticket.
p.s. If you expanded your age range by a couple more years (& lived a LOT closer) you could hug my pillow anytime. :-)

Personally, I dont see age as an issue in consenting adults. The rest is all personal preferance. For myself, I'm more attracted to older men. I've dated men almost 30 years my senior and had a wonderful time. I think I 'mesh' better with men who are older than me. Add to that a bit of fear for the younger guy who might be more apt to have a wandering eye. Older guys SHOULD have their partyin' days over with and be ready to settle down till "death do them part". As other gals have said... I'm not saying that ALL younger guys can and will be unfaithful... and yes,I know... older guys can be that way too. I'm just saying that the chances are probubly less with older guys than with younger ones.

Thats just my opinion on the age issue, and strictly directed to myself. I see NOTHING wrong with younger guys dating older gals. *smile*

Does anyone else feel this way? Or am I stuck in a rut?
