Is it just me, or is it a real pain trying to find clothes for the larger woman that actually (a) fit, (b) don't cost a fortune and (c) are actually in this years fashion??

I'm a size UK20 and on the short side (5"2) so I always have to take the clothes up. If I go to Wallis, for example, the do a petites range but only up to size UK18. What good is that! Arent we allowed to be fat AND petite?!!

Sorry, didn't mean to rant, it just winds me up.

Just out of curiousity..what does belly dancing have to do with having a hard time finding large size clothes? Are you a large sized belly dancer or smaller gal with a bigger belly for dancing ...just asking

i say adopt a friend in the us and shop lane bryant, you can go online..look to see what you want and have them send it over. you can also try fashion bug and catherine's...i know that lane bryant does petites, not really dresses...but you don't want one, bigger girls look horrible in dresses...skirts and tops are much better...shopping can be so much fun...just got to know how to use your clothes to make you look great!!

I remember an ex being fond of "La Redoute en Plus" which is also a catalogue.

Good luck with your application Modgal. That's what we need, someone on the inside to sort them out!
As they virtually have the high street monopoly on big girl's clothes, I think they could try MUCH harder.
They've at least brought out a 'taller' range, so I can get skirts that aren't swinging up round my knees lol
My nearest branch is 50 miles away, so I don't get there too often, but the last couple of times I was really disappointed.
I've found the SimplyBe range to be very similar to Evans.
Ebay is the best. I've had some great stuff.

I adore Lane Bryant. They've got some cute things.

But for things to a wedding... Check out David's Bridal. I've gotten some really nice gowns and the like for various weddings and evening events from there and they carry plus sizes but you have to order it and give 6 weeks shipping I think. Check it out. Good luck.

Hey Sassy......I agree with you.
It's a nightmare.
I'm on the taller side, and find everything in Evans is too short for me, and their fabrics are rubbish. They shrink when you wash them &they don't last.
I used to like Maria Donati but I think they have ceased to be. But.....
I just discovered La Redoute mail order company. They do an 'En Plus' catalogue, which is the Taillisime range and a lot of their stuff comes in different heights & different body shape fittings.
Not too expensive & very good quality I find.
Give it a whirl, girl!
