Quoting deepfeelin:

Can I just add that all of those pre-requisites for a guy also should be met by any girl wanting a long term relationship. This is the time for equal opps so guys deserve a girl that is "qualified" to offer all those qualitied listed above. I know many a girl that is prepared to sit on her laurels whilst the man goes out and earns the bacon so to speak - 50/50 works both ways.

well agreed!

I disagree with a comment made earlier the a committed relationship is not based on money. If you don't add that into your requirements you are screwing yourself. Most of the divorces these days are due to money problems. Minus that if it doesn't work out you need to make sure that you will be ok financially. So to me that was just an immature answer.

It isn't so hard to find a man who can meet these qualification. I have met many of them in my lifetime. Unfortunately, none of them met ALL of these qualifications at the same time in their lives. At least not the ones who were single.

What's up with that???

WOW!
I find a couple of your 'requirements' valid, but the whole tone of your post is a bit on the demanding side IMHO.
Starting out with such strict & possibly rigid requirements may limit your prospects, but then, to each their own.
I wish you luck in finding your dream man, and hopefully, you'll stand up to his "requirements", too.

I will say that having a license is important, but well let's not forget how much of a pain it can be to get one. Most people overlook that fact since usually your parents are the ones to do it when you're young ... unfortunately some of us had parents whom can't, won't, or etc. do something that most parents do ... mainly teach their kids to drive and take them to get their license.

I'm 26 and just got my 1st license ever on August 9th ... all it cost me was almost $600 freakin' dollars($449 for a 30hr class 6hr behind the wheel class and another $143 for a warm up course and to take the test at a 3rd party tester ... since you have to make an appointment 3 or 4 months ahead if I went to a regular DMV ... not to mention I don't have any relatives, friends or etc. in the state I'm currently in whom car I could have went in).

I guess I never had the feeling that I had to settle for less. If a looser, drug addict, drunker or woman abuser was attempting to go out with one of my friends I would guide her to a clear path of thinking and let her know that she could do better than that. Why should I settle for less than I would want for a friend ?
I do not live in a big city. Here, people need a drivers license and a car to get around. There is no city bus to bring you to work. I need my car to get me to where I have to go. I do not want a relationship with a man who I have to be a chaufer for just because he does not know how to maintain a proper driving ability. If he is living with me and he wants to go somewhere he needs his own car so he can go. I do not want to have to bring him where he needs to be and I do not want him to take my car and leave me there with no way to go. I paid for my car. I keep a valid drivers license. I keep active insurance. I should deserve to drive my own car that I paid for when I need to. Like I said , I don't want to adopt a man I want to have a relationship with one.
The man I am looking for is out there somewhere supporting himself without leaning on anyone the same as I am doing right now. When we get togther will will BOTH be better off than we are now.

Lol all your comments made me laugh. Well living at home yeah i still am!! damn lol thats why i cant have a good relationship! no but seriously each situation is different isnt it? meeting someone and falling for them doesnt have to be about money, it helps but not the most important thing. Its the persons ability to be mentally mature, yeah ive come across men that only after one thing. Cool if thats what i want to, but relationships, not that many. maybe one or two that i am really interested in.Ahh well !

*sigh
JustRob, obviously you would be an exception. It was not written to be applied to your situation. Please realize that there are too many men out there who have very good eyes and have had drivers licenses yet they lost them because they can't manage to stay home and drink. They seem to avoid reality all together even after getting caught drunk driving the first and second time. They keep doing it until they loose driving privileges for life. This is only one of many other points which makes him a total looser that most women would try to avoid. There are too many such losers who have come to this website , not because they like BBW , but because they are thinking that we BBW are hard up for a man, and willing to settle for anything.

I must also take exception to the "must have a driver's license and car" requirement. I am classified as legally blind therefore I have no driver's license (I "can" see, just not well enough to drive). Plus, the rising cost of oil is making owning a car rather expensive (not to mention the other financial aspects involved with vehicle ownership).

( 4 ) A legal working vehicle which is registered to YOU, with insurance, safe breaks, tires, oil changes, reasonable upkeep, and gasoline.

In large cities which it is almost uncomfortable to own a car #4 really wouldn't apply however it would be replaced with,

( 4 ) Large city dwellers should have their own funds for public or hired transportation.

( 3 ) A drivers license. Not an expired, or suspended one , an active legal one.
Being a resident in a large city does not mean you do not need or should not have a drivers license unless you never ever plan to go anywhere else ever.
While traveling on vacations one might want to rent a car.
While moving one might want to rent and drive a U-Haul truck.
Having and keeping a valid drivers license is part of being a valid adult.
