Do you think about them all the time? Do you put their wants and needs before yours? When something good/bad happens, are they the first person you want to tell? Can you imagine yourself without them? If you answered yes to the first 3 questions and no to the last one? You might be in love! I think if you are just interested in the "physical" side of the relationship, then that might just be lust. If you haven't met the person face to face and spent time with him, then it might be infatuation. I have proven you cannot fall in love over the internet.... but you can meet the love of your life online... there is a big difference. It takes spending time with someone to "fall in love". Very true Kewannap. Meeting someone on line and talking with them on the phone is entirely different than meeting them in person and spending time with them. It may be a whole different story in person. Now on the other hand, if you've already met them in person, and you think you may be in love, well, all the stuff Kewannap just said. LOL!! hbcgirl, I'm still working this out for myself, but the harder part is figuring out when the other person loves you.
So far, I think the true test of love is when each of you is willing to make a great sacrifice for the other, without resentment. This might be moving to another city (or country) to be with the other person, marrying someone with big financial debts, or even marrying someone with cats when you have allergies!
I remember an article I read in the newspaper a while back about a husband and wife whose car was hit by a tire that came loose off a truck. The wife was badly injured, but the husband was killed. The last thing the wife remembers is the husband warning his wife and swerving the car so that the tire would hit his side of the car. I remember reading this with tears falling down my face because that's the ultimate love -- being willing to sacrifice your life for another.
Sorry if this is a downer, cos there are lots of happy things that come with love too!
