I just hate it when other bands cover another persons songs. Not that I am opposed to it but 9/10 times they end up butchering the songs. Let look at the group evanesence. A group that has their own style of indie, dark gothic rock stuff in which they provide unqiue and creative music. Then their is the Smashing Pumpkins, a band who is dreamer, rebels and everything inbetween. SP was just a band that tried their hardist to make their music. Now you would think that Evanesence could do a good job on my favorite song from the SP, Zero. Boy was I wrong. After they turned it to a fast pace, industrial rock; the main chic voice was everywhere but good.

I mean this a slow emo song, that needed more bass then guitar work and in which made me sick. Now their are some instances that covers work. Look at Marilyn Manson, and some of his covers. He has learned to accept the creative vision that the original artist has but puts his own creative spin on it. I hope less groups cover songs and try to improve upon their sounds becomes some groups need to.....

I actually disagree. Re-thinking songs has a long and venerable tradition. I need point you no further than nina Gordon's cover of NWA's "straight outta compton"

I agree battle to an extent, I think some covers are fantastic, like Limp Bizkits version of "Behind blue eyes" and HIMs versions of "Solitary man" there have been a few others that have been ok, but I hate it when R&B artists (as in the R&B of now) totally massacre songs .... one in particular thats just coming out here now is that ACORN guy I think it is, he is doing "More than words" by Extreme ..... and it AWEFUL !! the only good thing about them doing covers is the fact the original artist will get royalties....
