THE BLESSING IN "NO"

I asked God to take away my pride.
God said "No."
It is not for Me to take away,
but for you to give it up.

I asked God to make my handicapped child whole.
God said "No."
Her spirit was whole,
her body was only temporary.

I asked God to grant me patience.
God said "No."
Patience is a byproduct of tribulations;
it isn't granted,
it is earned.

I asked God to give me happiness.
God said "No."
I give you blessings,
happiness is up to you.

I asked God to spare me pain.
God said "No."
Suffering draws you apart from worldly cares
and brings you closer to Me.

I asked God to make my spirit grow.
God said "No."
You must grow on your own,
but I will prune you to make you fruitful.

I asked for all things that I might enjoy life.
God said "No."
I will give you life so that you may enjoy all things.

I ask God to help me LOVE others, as much as He loves me.
God said... Ahhhh, finally you have the idea!

Thanks for the poem TNsweet, it's very touching and it spoke to my heart. Keep looking up girls, there are some real Christian men out there somewhere, isn't there? Any older ones 55 & up? lol. Take care and God bless you all.

So very sorry to hear about your mother. I hope all is better w/ you and your family.
I just listed here and found your post.
My mother passed away this Jan 9th and it is very difficult to lose a parent but I know she is in Heaven w/ Jesus and I will see her again someday.. that is alot of comfort to me.
May the lord uplift you and keep you strong in your time of trouble.

My Dad sent this very poem to my email and it really touched my heart. My mother is in the hospital and is very ill. She has cancer and could use all the prayers possible. Thanks for reminding me of this poem. *hugs*
