I'll send a message if someone posts a really magnificent profile and/or is extremely beautiful. Most times I just wait and see who might be interested though.
I send out all kinds of them. :) Some answer, some don't. I don't take it personally though. It's not a big deal. I'm a cool girl and if they don't want to know it, that's ok too. :) To each his own.
The right woman contacting me first or vice versa? As long as we get the ball rolling I don't care who pushes first. However, it is an ego booster when you read "YOU'VE GOT MAIL".
I think it shows *alot* about a woman when she takes the effort to make "first contact." Knowing firsthand how hard it can be, I make sure that I reply to anyone who writes me, as I would hope would be done for me.
I would definitely prefer for her to send the first message rather than wink. I mean if she's interested in me it'd help to know what about my profile caught her attention or why she think we might be a fit.
