Whew, I have finally gathered up enough courage to say hello to you all. I've been watching the site for quite some time, but quietly from the sidelines.
This might sound really strange, but I was even rather intimidated by putting info on my profile. Which is why there is none.
I have a question and would appreciate an honest answer/opinion.
After 18 years of marriage to the one love of my life, I find myself seperated for the last three years. Still dealing with the pain and hurt - so I am not ready for a relationship. But I would like to make some new friends.
My question is that I am wondering if this site is more geared to relationships, or are there people who really would like to make new friends, chat and perhaps get together for coffee or take in a movie? I don't want to lead anyone on in the least.
This is a huge big step for me. While I am very confident and self assured in my home based business - (I have won many company awards for achievement, excellence in mentoring and leadership and I've built a team of thousands of people from all across the world) - It has become very easy to hide from people as most of my business is done via phone and internet. And I keep it professional.
It has been easy to build up walls and sometimes I am not sure how to tear the walls down.
People who know me describe me as being one of the most loving, caring, compassionate people that they have ever known. Yet, on the personal level, I am having a hard time.
However, I find myself longing for conversation and friendship.
Is there a place on this site for friends?
As I have looked over many profiles, I have held back from sending any winks, as I am afraid of leading people on.
Are there people who really would just like to make a new friend?

Hi, I'm new here, but am pleased with the profiles I've read. Some are not my cup of tea, but I think there are friends to be found here. I really think some of the guys need to rethink their pictures. Have someone take it for you. Some of the pictures look scary and I'm sure you don't want to convey that.
This is a WONDERFUL site to make friends. It is an equally wonderful site to gather advice and/or share insight. As they say, "two heads are better than one".... LOL
There are ALOT of heads here... we're happy to have your added to the pot!

Snowflake, I just tried adding you to my Yaahhoo Messenger. I'm also the same name there if anyone is looking for a friend to chat with. I'm a night owl, so you can find me on at all hours! LOL One neat thing about lady friends. They usually have wonderful advice and last a lot longer than some guys in the friendship department. LOL I've met some wonderful lady friends on here. So far, my luck with the guys hasn't been as good!

This site, although called Large Friends, is technically a dating site, although many of us here are only here to make friends. I mention this point because, as it has been mentioned above, you will get winks and comments from people who are looking for relationships, or who think 'friends' means more than it does.
This is why it's important to have your profile completely filled out. This way, you are honest from the get-go about what you want and where you're headed.
Like the others who have replied to you post (who are VERY sweet and funny people!), I am only a part of this site for the friendship...so at least you know we exist.
One more thing, if you are looking for a chance to get away and hang with like-minded people (this goes for anyone who is interested), there is a BBW Bash in Las Vegas at the end of June. Some of us from this site are going to meet up and hang out in 'real life'.

The others are right...I've met some good friends here...men and women. I've also met a couple to date. They were/are all wonderful. There are some duds...I'm sure you'll occasionally receive messages that are not at all what you are looking for...but overall...it's a cool site.
Incidentally...if you'd like to chat and make a friend...look me up...same name...on the yellow happy face. LOL
I've been a member of this site for a few months now and have found that there are many compassionate and genuinly kind people here. I'm sure that you could establish a friendship with someone on this site. Just be a bit careful though; treat this site and the people like life in general. Because as I said, there are lots of genuinly nice people here, there are also those who might not be very nice. Just post and write to people but beware that "an online personality" can sometimes be vastly different from the real person. Good luck
Hi Contentment! I think this site is also a place to meet friends... at least I hope so. It is the main reason I have joined. I am shy and it is hard for me to meet new people, but I liked what I read in the forums. Everyone seemed nice and seemed to care about each other.
I just want to meet and talk to new people. I don't care if they are male or female.
