I'm starting this to pay homage to all the 80's bands I know and love. I'd love to hear what everyone's favorite bands/singers were and/or are. I was so obsessed with Depeche Mode, Naked Eyes,Oingo Boingo, The Go Go's, Men at Work, Men Without Hats, Duran Duran, and so many more. If you have any fun memories about the 80's or music interests, share!
I am a die hard 80's music fan. My all time favorite is Depeche Mode. I have seen them at least 6 times over my life time. As I continue to enjoy the music of my favorite decade, I have come to the conclusion that Oingo Boingo is my second favorite of all time. Danny Elfman to this day remains one of the best music minds the industry has ever seen. Most bands from the eighties have fallen off the radar only to resurface for a "rare concert tour" so that promoters can hike up the prices for the tickets. Depeche Mode is one band that continues to make music. I can't wait to hear the new album!
between the Music and the telly, the 80's most definitely ruled.
For me it was the New Romantics, the dress sense (or lack of)and at the tail end of the 80's the new pop Erasure, Communards which opened up a whole new scene.
There are a few places about that cater for 80's music, so go find a themed bar or club, an let the good times FLOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I was born in 1970 so the eighties was definitely my decade. All the crazy styles and hair I thought no other generation could come close to our innovation.Every time I hear the kids playing some "new" song with our beat to it I'm quick to point it out.My favorite artist at the time was Madonna hands down! I know it's surprising but she always seem to come from a place of strength in her lyrics and I identified with that. The pointy bras was a rough phase but we got through it.
What I miss most is the wide range of music, which has completly vanished today. Country, metal, new wave, rock, pop, one hit wonders, punk and glam. I used to drive to work, with my music blaring, and going to concerts when they rolled in to town!
