An ideal first date would be something extremely casual, yet fun. Maybe go to lunch at a simple, local restaurant and then a walk downtown with window shopping, sight-seeing, and maybe a trip to the aquarium. It would be really nice to just keep it casual and light so that neither of us feels pressured into anything.
