I think a good relationship must have communication, trust, honesty, and friendship. Upon these qualities a good, solid foundation are built. As for an initial attraction chemistry and good conversation is the key for me.

As one who is not an expert with a PHD(Piled Higher And Deeper) But Ive Graduated from the School of Hard Knocks! LOL. Ive got to say Open communcation Is a part of it , and a nother component is when discussing a problem is Not to let Ego get in the way when one is commenting on something .Just because your partner may have a Different veiwpoint does not mean you have the right to be mean ,NASTY and hurtful of the others feelings. Because of what they might have said. It has to do with RESPECT!, of the Person and respect of their veiw. Some times one has to put your personal insecurities and Deamons aside for the greater good of the relationship. An aditional thing is being able to Read and act on you partners needs. Their Physical,Emotional and Spirtuial needs being meet and you helping them find their Inner peace can only make the relationship Great. Because If the find peace with them selves many of the petty things that can tear a relationship apart, like Evey ,jeliousy , and anger , dont have fertile soil to grow.

Neal. If only you preferred younger women. :)

Communication is important, but that initial attraction and chemistry sparks an interest that spurs romance and passion. Long term relationships will never work without communication.

Whoa.. Who? And NONE of you ladies have pounced this fellow yet? WHAT is wrong with LF these days?

I think that communication ultimately makes a relationship work. If you do not have communication there will be a lot of misunderstandings. For myself personally, my mate and I have to be interested in some of the same things. If you do not feel comfortable talking to your mate it is not going to last very long. Communication is what keeps a relationship fresh long after both parties do not find the physical so appealing anymore.

I have to say communication is a factor.. but showing real attention and interest in your partner is also a big thing. No one wants to get into a relationship only to be ignored or put aside. People like to feel special and if you can make your partner feel that way most of the time, you'd do pretty well I think. Relationship maintenance is the key though. Keeping the momentum of that 'honeymoon'phase going is tricky but with a bit a creativity, you could do quite well. Anyhoo thats my 2cents worth

I too believe that attraction is what catches the eye initially, I ain't gunna lie, but for me it is trust in myself and trust in my partner... you also have to remember that you can only control you and your thoughts...or change them. but you can not change others or their thoughts. Communication is a major thang too and remember there is more to communication than just words...the body and facial expressions say a whole hell of a lot too! Just my two and 1/2 cents though.

I think every relationship is different, but communication and close to equal effort/input from both sides would be high on my list.
