Ok, so I've joined this site after being in a relationship for 5 years - so it's a little scary coming back to dating but hell, I'm a guy who can't say no to the thought of a cuddle :)

Anyway, I've written up my profile and I keep looking at it thinking it's rubbish and wanting to start from scratch, but if I did, would it be any better than the one I created originally.

I'm trained as a journalist and should be able to write about myself in 4000 characters or less, but what approach do I take?¿ Do I try the funny approach and start quoting lines from Monty Python or go for the serious straight profile and run the risk of coming across as a humourless jerk who has a rain¿cloud over his head?

Now I'm not saying this keeps me up awake at night - but it's something that I do think about on the train in the morning .

Help me out here?¿ What's the best approach to writing a profile ????

Thanks all for the feedback .. I'm kinda on that borderline between certifiable and just a little crazy, but hopefully on the good side of that line! .¿ Feeling a little more relived that most people seem to think the profile is ok J

One2One / Ozredhead ¿ Thanks for that very specific feedback, I¿ll have a look at that over the next few days and re-phrase that!

Andy, I think you need to invest in an MP3 player or at least a good book to occupy your mind on the train in the mornings! I had a quick read of your profile and whilst being on first name terms with a cactus might make you certifiable, it generally looks pretty good to me! You don't want to use up your whole repertoire of jokes in a profile - you'll have none to impress a girl with when you get to conversation/date stage - but viewing it as a fellow (and pretty scarce on here) Brit, I'd say you've managed to come across as articulate, amusing and intelligent. Nice to see someone from along the coast joining the blogs - welcome!

I think it looks really good. It gives a definite sense of your personality, but I agree with Oz that a little different phrasing on that one line may work better. Instead of, "I'm single again after 5 years and not really sure what I want, but ..." it could say something more like, "I'm single again after 5 years, beginning to test the waters and miss the company of a great woman." Hope that helps. :)

Your profile made me laugh and that's important. You've listed a number of likes/dislikes so we get a sense of you. You have a few pics but none of you cuddling with your goldfish? (hmmmm) I think it's a great start. It say's you're willing to relocate so I guess the question that comes to mind is "how far?" for those that are considering the miles. Good Luck!

Hey Andy welcome to blog land I do hope you find what your are looking for here. I think your profile is very good, its witty and funny and fun, and Im guessing just like you are. I would not change much at all with it. You do repeat yourself a couple of times but even with this its fine. I think that women will see that this is the real you and appreciate you for it. Leave it like it is, review it for final editing in a week or so, and then see the results you get from it. I have changed mine several times because it was not attracting the right type of people, and you can do that too. Oh one thing I would consider though ... work out somethings that you do want or are looking for isnstead of saying that you dont know what you want, the clearer you are the better chance of getting what you want. Best of luck to you :)

Life is only as wonderful as you think it is.
