I don't think she needs the press to "build her up". It is plainly obvious -- to anyone not tone deaf-- that she has a talent in the league of many divas past. For a woman who professes no formal training, it is clear she has the range, control and clarity of voice necessary for her to become world famous. She is well on her way already. Certainly anyone would need publicity to attain the household name her voice is deserving of. But her voice is what will get her there-- not the press! --True

You said it in a very elegant way and it was perfect. I watched this several time and each time I found myself tearing up with goosebumps as she began to sing. She has a magnificient gift. As I see it she was giving that gift and it took her 47 years to have the confidence to stand in front of a huge audience and share her gift wtih the world. She is truely an inspiration to us all. ¿ Natalie

That voice was angelic and there is no question about it. Maybe the purity of her body/life (never been kissed or on a date) added the purity to her beautiful and sensational vocal cords... I know in todays market her physical attributes are not necessarily marketable, but she would be a great addition to the Royal Variety show whether she wins this competition or not. I am voting for her being on the Royal Variety Show singing for the Queen by Royal Command...

Wasn't that amazing! And did you notice that sly little smile she had just a split second before she started singing and the rapturous look on Simon's face by the end?

We've heard about little else in the UK all week ..... yet another reality tv show taking over our lives!
I have mixed feelings - would everyone be making such a fuss if the she fitted into the usual middle-aged-woman box? Probably not.
She can clearly sing, and although songs from musicals are really not my cup of tea there is no denying she has a good voice. But is it exceptional? Can anyone know after just one performance of a clearly well rehearsed song? Or is there just a macabre fascination because of how she looks?
It seems sad she's being caught up in a media freak show because people were so surprised that a very "ordinary" woman dares to be good at something. It's a bit "car crash" tv .... like when someone stares at someone from a site like this because we are overweight, how could we possibly have the gall to do something that "normal" folk do let alone do it well?!
The press that are currently building her up will be waiting for the moment they can knock her down, whether that's the first time she sings a song that doesn't suit her range, whether she does or doesn't have a makeover, get her hair fixed, whiten her teeth or whatever else they will be pressuring the poor gal to do!
I wish her well and I hope she gets to use her talents as she wishes rather than being swept up in the circus that must currently be surrounding her.
It sounds like she hasn't had the easiest life and she deserves a bit of fun ..... I wouldn't mind being able to sing like that but I'm not sure I'd want to switch places with her!
