As some of you know that I have struggled with the decision to have Lap band surgery or not. Well a update .On June 26 I had the Lap Band surgery. I have observed the following things that have happened since. 1) My chest/ stomach area feels like King Kong used it for a trampoline. My apatite has gone from a Ravenous black hole, to nothing. A 20 once drink that used to take.025 seconds to be gone , now takes almost three hours. Before I could eat three 40 oz bowls of soup at a sitting now If I am lucky 3oz in a hour. I know that this decision is leading me to a better , and hopefully longer life. With a little luck, and a bit of time I'll be able to chase after that special some one and not need a Ambulance standing by.

Congratulations! It is a big step. Stick with the rules. My doctor said "remember, we operate on your stomach, not on your head." wish I had listened to him more. A good recommendation I heard was to find a support group or counselor to go through the experience with. There used to be a great one on spotlight health and they could hook you up with a more local one as well. Best of luck! Kirsten

Quoting butterbll: Well been two weeks since the surgury. The incisions have almost healed totally. At last some food with some body to it!Finally been able to eat a potato. at least I dont have to sip it , gets a little tireing just drinking your meals.

It great to hear your doing well with it. Are you able to eat everything? Have heard that sometimes you just cant stomach certain foods anymore? And how is the weight loss going so far?

Life is only as wonderful as you think it is.

So far been able to progress from Broth / jello to soft , pureed stuff. Progress But I would like some solid food with some texture to it, besides the texture of wall paper paste. But,alas my kingdom for a cheese burger with tater tots, or some fish ans chips with malt vinagar. OK, so far three of the 5 incisions 3 have healed nicely. the other two have gotten a little inflamed. I guess Monday I'll have to get another prescription for antibiotics.

Hi Butterbll, well done you sound like you are doing great so far. I know it must have been a really hard decision, one that I am now facing too. I have been on the waiting list for 2 years now to get my lap band done, here in oz its free if you have certain medical problems, but you do have a long wait for a hospital bed. In the last 2 years I have lost 35 kg (about 75 pounds) on my own, and now dont know if I should go ahead with it or try to lose the rest on my own. I do know that you will find you have lots more energy and confidence and that you will put up a good chase for that special someone you want to catch. Good luck and keep doing well, would love to have updates of your progress.

Inshurance ? No this was all out of pocket. Even when I was working over six months ago the Crummy managenent did not cover any employees except Managers and those listed as Full Time Employees Every body else Tuff scat! Since getting fired last September I have been out of work , Looking ,and Filing out forms till my hands cramped, but kept getting the same OLD line "Dont Call US ,We will call you! So I figured Id'e have to Reforge my self in to a better person. Repair, Reequip, and attack in a nother direction.

I'm happy for you and hope for only good things for you both. You are so lucky that your insurance let you have this procedure. My insurance excludes it. :(

Good Luck Butterball - I hope it all goes well with you. Permanent lifestyle change with results that can be seen and encourage you to reach your goal of all around better health. Change is good - but it takes time. I also hope the rest of the things in your life are going better. Sounds like never a dull moment. :)
