Why do some guys think it is attractive (?) to put the number 69 in their profile name. I, myself, do not think it is very attractive, I find it more amusing, unless, of course it is truly their birthdate year. Anyhow, just an observation I guess. Just kind of strikes me silly.

Well that is what I like about our world. Everyone has their own opinion, none more important than the other. It is interesting to see everyone's imput on the subject. I was not putting any importance on it, I was just making an observation, and just thought it was silly. Nice to bring up a subject that brings up a lot of responses though, gets everyone involved : )

I agree with ATX1973, appropriate numbers and all. I must confess that I have an alternative email address with a 69 in it and I put it there on a whim. Since I've had to use that address from time to time with less than intimate friends, I've sometimes regretted creating it in the first place. I didn't do it to impress anyone with my "prowess". The only way I could do that would be in person, wouldn't one think? I won't dispute the point that such an address is less than mannerly, but I would be prepared to argue at length with the comment that it "lacks good taste". ;-) It was more of an expression of something I like, such as "sailing69" or "icecream69"; "Iscream69!". Apparently there are some who do not share my enthusiasm, but that makes life more interesting. Perhaps they prefer to knit ("knitting69" anyone?). I wasn't thinking about offending anyone. I was just being playful. I find it a little surprising that it would bother another adult to the point of some of the reactions in this blog, but I tend to view the world from my own perspective (like everyone else). I graduated from high school in 1965 and more than a few senior's yearbook captions (not including mine) reported that they wanted to get their BA in 69 (an admirable intention, I should think). So I suppose that you could call it a childish whim, but I didn't mean as much by it as some might think. When I was in college there was a radical who legally changed his name to Jefferson F--- Poland. There was plenty written about him at the time, but I find it strange now, that I never thought to wonder about his motivation. Did he dislike Poland or did he just change his middle name to make some kind of a political statement? I'll probably never know, but he wasn't completely out of tune with the times---I'm thinking of the prosecutions of Lenny Bruce and of Lenore Kandell. Somehow this blog reminded me of that.

At least you have a preview about what they are probably like and you don't waste your time with them

I honestly think you're putting too much importance on such a silly thing. It just all adds up to personal styles/choices. I don't think that what's in the profile name is all that there is to a person. Half the time I don't even really notice the name and go straight to their info and what they're looking for in a partner...that's much more important to me. Maybe on that day, the guy felt very self confident or just plain silly! Does it really matter? Just my lil ol' opinion! :-)

It is my humble opinion that the reason that some men put the (69) in their profile name is. They are trying to impress the female reader with their abilities and prowess.like the American Alligator's courting bellowing display it is a display meant to impress the ladies. However I feel a Real Gentleman will not display such crass and vulgar action. Doing so only shows a lack of proper manners and good taste. Doing so only goes to make one( Me) feel that they are tring to compensate for a short comming in their character by promoting such crass and vulgar puffery. A Real Gentleman would not brag or boast of his abilities in the bedroom to others. What happens behind closed doors should stay private between the two. Known only to who are behind the closed doors. In my humble opinion.
