Well, I had high hopes for 2008 but so far it's off to a really rocky start. I went back to work yesterday (first day back from vacation) and guess what? They laid me off. I know it was coming, honestly I'm surprised. I'm tired of the bureaucratic BS. I outlived my usefulness and I was threat because of things that I knew (things they weren't comfortable with).
Anyway, I haven't freaked out yet. Maybe this is a blessing in disguise. I'm feeling that I have several doors that may be opening...the possibilities are almost palpable. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and praying. Maybe this is the big break I've been waiting for... But we'll see.
Ok, I'm done venting. I'm really not too upset about it (maybe I'm just in denial) but I've got a good feeling despite the bad. :) Have a great day everyone!

Sorry I'm kind of slow replying to your post..I haven't been on the blogs lately. I'm sorry about the job loss..but I think the universe has better things in store for you. When life gives you lemons..make lemonade my wise dad always said. Keep your chin up.

Thanks True, Neal, and Wylde. Actually, I have decided that despite the hard transition, this is the best thing that could have happened to me. I have excellent prospects (several in fact), and with any luck I'll get the best one (though any one would do...and be better than what I just came from). It's funny how things work out sometimes. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Make it become your big break, make opportunities for yourself.
It is difficult getting laid off, been there myself. The day I got laid off, I was driving home after boxing up my stuff and my car started overheating and blowing smoke...head gaskets. Boy was I pissed.
See, it's cause the day before I said this to my friend at work: "I'll be here until they make me leave"...LOL. See, I created my own destiny!!!

Hang in there . You have many things to be happy about. 1) you are above the ground 2) you have a pulse. 3) you have your freinds ,and family to lean on. So do not sweat the small stuff!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments. I'm sorry I don't have the time to answer each one but my computer here is about to crash. The email's not working, the IM....nothing. So, I'm about to do something drastic...completely reboot (from scratch) my system. I hate to do that. It's such a pain. But I'm trying. Hang in there and I'll get back to you as soon I get my computer fixed. Take care!

Melissa, Best wishes for job prospects for you in 2008. There is no good time for anything negative to happen. Regroup and hopefully something better will come your way.

There is a saying that when God closes a door, he opens a window. I'm not a religious person, but I do believe that when something ends it is because there is a new beginning waiting. Keep your eyes and ears open and be ready to embrace the opportunity you are being given. I KNOW it will be a good one for you. :)

Go to your local unemployment office FIRST. Look at your options, including unemployment (which you won't be able to get for a few weeks, but at least the paperwork will be done, if you haven't found anything by then!). They can also help you in your job hunt. Lots of government agencies post jobs with the unemployment agencies. You might find a good job, with benefits and retirement, to boot!
