Hints to make the holidays brighter, easier and more enjoyable. Let's share our shortcut tips for the hoidays. When addressing envelopes I use the return address labels from the cards I've received. I also cut the return address off of the envelopes, tape them into my address book with the date. Some folks just love to keep moving !! What tips do you use?

Butterfly you turkey. with a good pair of game shears remove the back bone on the turkey . by doing so the time for cooking will be greatly reduced. salt the bird lightly with Kosher salt after brushing on melted butter.Roast in a large roasting pan with a foil lined bowl to raise the bird out of the drippings. when done remove let rest at least 10 minutes so that the juices will redistribute in to the meat.

I am a stamper so I start making my hand stamped cards in October. I also address the envelopes all at once. I keep all my addresses in a "christmas book" I keep from year to year. I have also cut out people whom I don't even see or speak to throughout the year. Now my list is way shorter. I also cut down on my holiday goodies that I make as I just eat it all anyway and I dont' need it. I start shopping in the summer, picking up a few things here and there and then in November/December I just have a few gift cards to buy. Now I can relax and enjoy the season :-)

Don't invite drug addicts round for a meal on Boxing Day. They may find the offer of cold turkey embarrassing or offensive.

I take a large 2 gallon ziplock bag and put my cards in it with a pen and my list of people to send to. That way when I am in line at the bank drive-thru or in the doctors office or getting the oil changed in my car I can work on cards. Filling out a few here and there really adds up.

YUMMMMMMMYYYYY -- That sounds wonderful !! Try Kaluah or Bailey Irish Cream. One trick I use for writing out cards is to address all of the envelopes first, this only works for mass mailing from a large box of cards obviously. Nisi

Hey Ni! I had to wrack my brain on this one. I usually schedule my holidays so that the last 2 or so days before Christmas are wide open, and I can spend that time immersing myself in holiday preparations. The only thing I have come up with is MOCK NOG! I love the taste of Egg Nog, but it is tooooo heavy for me. For the last month or so, tho, I have been making myself MOCK NOG by using my espresso machine to steam a big potful of milk and adding spices - I have a homemade Chai blend that I like. It is warm, comforting, milky, sweet and filling without the weight of yer traditional nogs. What I haven't done, but plan on doing, is adding an alcoholic component. I dunno . . .rum? Maybe a spiced rum? I'll let you know if I get it to work! Amy
