Or Halloween as most are wont to call it. What do you do for Halloween? Costume parties? Trick or treating? With your kids I'd hope. I tag team with my oldest taking the kids out and watching the pot (of candy that is). We used to setup a decorated table in the driveway, get dressed up, lights along the garage, etc. But we don't have many young ones that trick or treat anymore. Now we just go and harass people in other neighborhoods...LOL

Re: wyldechild write: Where we used to live the Fire Dept. would bring out all of their trucks (small town so not many fires) and drive around town passing out candy, giving short rides to kids, etc. LOL, I remember one year we had a horrid ice storm, had to cancel Halloween. I thought that was the weirdest thing I'd ever heard of, cancel Halloween. Re: staceynkansas write: I have a final in class on Halloween this year. The town I live in does a Halloween Howl which is where the merchants hand out candy and there is a costume parade down Main Street. Last year I went down there with a huge basket of candy and had a great time. I also like to stay home and pass out candy. For a few years some friends and I used to get together on Halloween and play cards and hand out candy. Halloween is such a fun time.

We had a flood one year on Halloween and had to postpone it until the water went down. Wasn't the same though not doing it on Halloween. We went on our block Halloween night and got alot of candy because everyone was ready and then the flood came. Our Fire Dept. does a picnic at the park in the summer and they have the hoses going to cool off the kids and give them rides in the trucks. It is fun.

ROFL!!! One tradition that my hubby used to have years ago was to combine most of the kids' candy in one container. That way dad could "double check" that all the candy was A-Ok...LOL

Re: honeybiscuit write: I have not had a kid visit a house I've lived in for as long as I can remember. And I don't have any little ones in my life at the moment. Here in Atlanta, I often go to a pumpkin party...slowfood pot luck and then we try and make artistic pumpkins after having drank too much...enevitably the evening ends with a very sloppy pumpkin toss. When I lived in San Fransisco it was all about prowling wournd the Castro district with a small gang of friends. Of course costumes were critical and there were always lots of parties in store fronts, galleries and studios that were open houses and completely racause in that special San Fransisco way...nothing like a frat party...always unique and creative and the people and proclivities are much more diverse.

Fun stuff woman. I'm there for the pumpkin carving!!! Three sheets to the wind too...LOL. When growing up, most of the houses on our street were set back from the street and there weren't many streetlights. Now add a cemetary next to where I lived and you could pretty much guarantee, nary a trick or treater. Was wicked fun though for ouija boards and other spooky Halloween fun as we got older.
