Please tell me....what does biology have to do with accounting. I am finishing up my bachelors in accounting and I am required to take a biology class. I am not a science person now or in the past or ever will be. When will I ever use this knowledge that I am struggling to understand. I am an accountant and I love numbers and absolutes. I do not understand theories and experiments. I didn't like biology in high school and I really don't like it now.

I know, I'm whining. lol Thanks for letting me vent.

Next time before the class starts make a dela with a Bio major that looks like you You take their math class they take your Bio.

Deal Making 101

Heres the Irony I was a bio whiz, now I am a business broker

Never took Accounting --- I just make deals with accountants to answer my questions on the esoteric portions of the 1120s like Section 179 WFT!

I dunno, Bizzle. Looking up the Sliding Filament Theory and memorizing it when your degree is in say, Business Management, might actually be a waste of time! (No, offense dearie!) I TOTALLY understand why colleges and universities want us to take all these satellite classes and I can say it without actually even actually "spelling" anything: $$

Yes,obviously it was an easy A but the cost and the time it took was frustrating. Oh well, I have 7 months left. I can't wait to get my life back. I can't wait to get this phase of my life over and start a new phase with my special someone!

Woo Hoo!! Yay for you. Even though it sometimes seems like time moves so slowly, before you know it...voila!!!

LOL, how frustrating. Bet it was a whiz to pass though!!! I think what is most annoying is paying for a class that you could easily test out of.

Ah, the things we do for education...would rather it be the things we do for fun...*wink*

When I got my associates in Accounitng years ago, one of my classes was business math and they would not let me quiz out of it. It was hysterical. She was trying to teach accounting students how to add and subtract. lol

Yeah, icky was right.

LOL, well rounded education. When I went back to school for micro computer programming, one of the required classes was intro to computers. I laughed so hard when I read the course description. It was learning what the monitor was, keyboarding, using a mouse, etc. Here I had been working with PCs and Macs since the mid 80's, have certifications in dbase mgmt, networking exp, etc. and they want to teach me how to use a computer. LOL. Thankfully I was able to sign a waiver and substitute something else for the credits. Although when I think about it now, would have made for an easy A...LOL

Stacey,

I feel for you! I think the conventional answer is that, even after 13 years of public school, we still need some reinforcement of our general knowledge. And, to play devil's advocate, as adults, when compared to other developed countries, we often show a lack knowledge.

It s*cks. Hope you get a professor who can make it fun! AND, just think, you don't have to do this when you get your Masters! Whee!

Amy

Oh Stacey - I haven't a clue of the relation between biology and accounting and when you know I need to know for my son who is in his first year of accounting and has no interest in science.
So you can understand them makeup of the bean counters or figure out the tax man? No idea - sorry.
