How would you define open minded? An open mind listens to all views and opinions no matter how much they differ from your own and accept those views/opinions as we each have our own. It doesn't necessarily mean that those views will be changed but we are each entitled to our own thoughts. Open mindedness on a dating site would lead me to believe that if you don't approach/discuss/ask then you would never know if someone would be interested in something that you are interested in or have possibly thought about. It's just like the lottery - if you don't play - you can't win. Positions, role play, fantasies, touch/massage, partners etc are all topics to be open to and about. Your thoughts ?

Re: honeybiscuit write: This definitely matches my personal definition of open-minded but I have found the phrase to mean very different things to different people. So when I see it in a profile of someone I'm getting to know I request their definition pretty early on.

Yes, I would agree. Being open minded certainly does have a wide variety of definitions. LOL, I think some people make them up as they go, see what they can get away with or try and talk someone into. And of course there are the rare few that actually say what they mean and mean what they say...LOL

Re: wyldechild write: "An open mind listens to all views and opinions no matter how much they differ from your own and accept those views/opinions as we each have our own." Pretty much that way in all aspects of my life. Work, personal, etc. Unless I feel a subject or person is morally/ethically wrong, etc. I really don't have much issue with discussing most ideas/ideals.

I have found that for some "open-minded" means that they are interested in dating across culture or race at times...not necessarily into kink etc, maybe more about social boundaries.

In answer to the question posed by Smooch . I would say that my definition of Openedmindedness is to sit down and listen to all points of view and evaluate them in an even handed manner. You need to take on board the constructive elements of the topic while discarding all the distructive and counter productive bits. You also need to discard the mistakes made by others while learning from those mistakes without being Judgemental or Prejudice . That is how I define Openmindedness .

Hi smoosh, Yes, I think you nailed it for both dating sites and "the outside world". I've had the same experience, I've been told I'm not open minded. I think that my values are coming into play, not my open mindedness. If I was not open minded I'd not be on any dating sites. In the past six years, in Florida, I've met 25 men. Not all from this site, one is from this site, so far. My vote is for Smoosh !! Score smoosh 2 other side 0 Natalie 32132 :-D Re: smoosh write: How would you define open minded?
