After a life time of diet pills, diets, work outs..... I have developed chf, hptn, hyperlipidema, insulin dependent diabetes. I finally have insurance that pays for the surgery. I would love to hear from anyone who has had this done . And status post ???

I am thinking of having this done... just a bandaid surgery, and they dont even have to do anything but slip a band around the top of your belly. None of the dumping syndrome. ETC. The only thing is, the doctors here will not accept insurance. You must be willing to pay the fee ( around three thousand dollars). I have discovered that your insurance might cover all the ancillary things. All but his fee.

Also, the experts for this particular surgery are in Mexico. Their docs are the ones who taught our US doctors the procedure. May not make a difference to you, but my sister ended up flying to Mexico to have her surgery, which by the way saved her several thousand dollars. Only negative is, you can't file insurance on it if you have it done out of the country.

I've never heard of this procedure. Can you tell me more about it please? Email me if you prefer.

I haven't had it done, but my sister, who is a doctor herself, has had it. It is much slower than the typical surgery but I think it is considered safer with less risks. I think she had it done about 8 months ago and she has lost around 40 pounds. She started out weighing 220 I think. She is very happy with it, but you do have to go back and have fills. She has had one and needs another. Hope that helps a little. I know there are some very informative support groups on the internet which is how she first heard of it.
