Theoretically - Online Dating sites can be a good idea. They supposedly broaden our options. I have quite a few Friends who met their Partners online, and are Very Happily Together. However, I'm finding many guys who define distance within 100 miles or so - probably gals too, but I'm not lookin at them *LOL*
Personally, I'd be willing to travel throughout the USA to meet my Mr. Right, and relocate if things progressed to that level.

If I am interested in someone I won't let distance scare me off but having said that it is extremely frustrating when you are trying to get to know someone to not be able to meet for dinner and see each other face to face. And then later into the relationship it is extremely frustrating to not be able to spend one on one physical time with each other. Your couple friends go out and your guy is miles and miles away. So to me online dating is great to meet people you might have never met but there is definately a downside.

I think its amazing we even can consider the question of distance at this point. The internet has allowed us to meet people internationally that we would never have met, in our own social circles. Hince: issues of distance and hards that try to build a bridge between.

well, after my wife passed away and I spent some time in the grief pool, I found myself talking to aomeone in Wisconsin..only a mere 1200 miles or so..and yeah a few times I did do the weekend date thing..left me limp long and short is we're still good friends but between her load of kids and my own + the distance it was just a tad too much

I just got back from spending a week in Louisiana. I agree that being away from family would be extreamly difficult for me, since we have a very tight knit relationship. But its more than that... it's also geography. I'm from the mountains, and just the week I was there, found it extreamly difficult to look out across the horizon and not see them. My internal compass was all out of whack. I loved visiting the State, but seriously doubt that I could stay there for to long a period of time before having to return to the Mountains. That may sound selfish, but really its' about inner peace. If your surroundings would cause you to feel 'out of place', then how could you expect to ever feel like this 'new place' is your home???

I thought I had met Mr. Right through an on line cribbage team. Talk about miles apart he was from Liverpool, England. He came to the US for 3 weeks in May 2004 and again for 3 months that Fall. That is when he took me out for a very romantic dinner and proposed. I was completely in love and ready to commit a lifetime to this man. In June 2005 he called me and told me he could not leave his 8 year old daughter. As much as it hurt I could not fight it and expect him to leave her. However, I called him the next day heartbroken and in tears and was rushed off the phone because he was spending the night at a "friends" house, a "friend" he had met 3 weeks earlier playing cribbage. Turns out this "friend" was named Sharon and he dropped me to bone (sorry for the bluntness) her. It's been nearly a year and although it was hard at first I am getting past the hurt. I would recommend being cautious before giving it all up and moving to a new area, be sure that Mr. Right is sincere and able to commit. Best of luck to you on that and oh and by the way my Mr. Right may have dropped me like a rock, but I kept his!!!!!!!!!! LOL!

I just got your comment on my blog ("Gotta agree - time with Family and Friends is Premium!") lol I didn't know we don?t get emails about comments lol so, I do enjoy family gatherings, and as a bonus my friends came down from Tulsa just to hang out and told me there moving to the city for new jobs and school and me! lol
