I have been on and off this site for a few years now...have met some really nice guys from here and all but I am going to throttle back and work on myself for awhile...I will be having bariatric surgery in about a week and will be trying to adjust to my new way of living....I have thought long and hard about the surgery and made my decision and never looked back....I will still be me just look different...my friends say the world is not ready for this...lol...cause you know if I wear a leopard print bathing suit at my current weight know telling what I will wear when I am smaller...lol...seriously though I just want to say that I enjoy reading the blogs and all the different perspectives...thanks to all of you who have made me smile and laugh....I am sure that you will find your someone special in time....especially big heart/bitterman....you seem like a great guy and so real with your feelings...you will make someone very happy someday....I hope as painful as love can be sometimes I hope that all of us can somehow help each other dust ourselves off and never give up on the ultimate and that is unconditional love.....

Dear Diamond4u, My sincerest apologies, my words were not intended to offend. I believe we have had a miscommunication of sorts. I was encouraging your decision, not trying to dissuade you from it. I was merely trying to pass along the negative information I myself have seen firsthand as a result of some, not all, of these surgeries, as a means of encouraging you to avoid any of these situations from happening to you. I am sure that you have looked into the good and bad aspects already, and did not think that my words of advice would be taken in an adverse light, as this is not how they were intended. I do not pretend to have insight into your life, as I do not know you. The counseling I suggested was again to help prepare you for your new life. Once more, my apologies that you percieved my well-intentioned remarks in such a negative manner. Good luck with your surgery and future life.

To Wanda: I am sure you believe that you are trying to help me but your words are so inappropriate for someone you do not know...I will overlook your comments and move forward...when someone is making a very difficult decision it is best to keep your negative comments to yourself...you have no insight into my life or for that matter anyone Else's....sometimes I wish you had more wisdom.....wisdom has two parts: 1) having alot to say, and 2) not saying it.....enough said!

Good luck with your surgery! As Robyn stated, I know people who have had success with surgery and I know someone who was unusccesful with it. I also know that there can be many complications after having had it. I highly recommend psychological counselling as I have seen people who could not change their way of thinking to adjust to their new body and they perceived themselves in a negative light. Making one's stomach smaller isn't going to change the reasons why we eat or the fact that we can eat. It will only force you to eat smaller portions. I have also seen someone who lost weight and is now obsessed with continuing to lose it to the point of almost being anorexic. This is just as unhealthy as being obese is. I would recommend juice fasting for a week or two to try to shrink one's stomach size, or going all raw for a few weeks, then controlling portion sizes before having surgery. We often take modern medicine for granted, but there still are risks with having any type of surgery.

Hey diamond good luck w/ your surgery.I know that you are not making this decision lightly. I know some people who have had the surgery and they seem happy about it, but others have had serious complications and have regained the weight. The medical background I have makes me say this, I suggest, if you haven't already, you consider counseling in combination with the surgery. The habits which are ingrained must be changed as well and a healty lifestyle adopted for you to reap the rewards and not fall back into unhealthy patterns, because your stomach can stretch back out. The surgery is a quick fix but psycologically what brought you to this point must be addressed as well. I know you have probably already discussed this with your doc, but I just wanted to pass it along, because too many people opt for this thinking it's a cure all. Best wishes to you , good luck and keep us posted.-RR-

Good luck Diamond!! Keep us posted on how it went! I sometimes think of having this surgery done, because of high blood pressure, diabetes and heart problems that run in my family, but I'm still a little chicken!! Hope everything works out for you Rosy
