How come the chat room doesnt work? What are we paying for?

Maybe its just me, but I dont think so. What do we pay for on this site. So far I have received three stock letters (one guy even telling me he had been divorced 58 years and he had a child named Rose). Two profiles have been removed due to violation of the sites rules, and I paid them to be a member until Feb. 2012. Im not happy about this at all. I think that maybe this is a site set up to take advantage of people. Anybody out there want to tell me Im wrong? I need some proof that I made a good decision.
