How quickly things can change. A fellow single gal pal and I had agreed that this would be the summer to be out and about and get seen. We put together a list of things we were to do. We had a plan. Then life put things into a different pattern and she has relocated two hours away.

A fellow single gal pal and I had agreed that this would be the summer to be out and about and get seen. We put together a list of things we were to do. We had a plan. Then life put things into a different pattern and she has relocated two hours away.
I was, of course, excited for her and all her new possibilities that came with her new location. Now that she is gone and it is the weekend, I wonder how long it will be to find another single female that actually likes doing the same things where we can do the buddy system again -- it took quite some time last round and frankly, I'm not getting any younger.
Ah, no younger... I have put off too long the going out and about as I never had a cohort. Having been drilled in my head that there is safety in numbers, I have always waited to find the Thelma to my Louise. While there is a lot to say about the powerful relationship between female friends, the lack of a partner in crime should not deter me from getting out there. But it does. Call it lack of confidence. Call it not wanting to seem the loner trying to fit in. For too long, perhaps, I've wondered too much about the appearances of a female hitting the trail on her own.
So, with that realization, here's to a summer of new experiences for both my gal pal and me. As a compromise to all of our summer plans, we have devised a time share of trips back and forth between locations so to optimize the goings on in both our towns. Cover more territory that way and hopefully meet more of an array of people.
Also, I have committed to myself that I will still go to the local stuff on my own if necessary. It's not necessarily about who you go with, it may be about who you meet when you get there. To new adventures!

Thanks there Lacagirl for the good luck. You certainly do understand and way to have a great attitude: it's not what we have to let go of in life, it's what we continue to seek and find.

Well I definitely know how you feel. I just helped my best friend move to another State. I too am looking for a new friend to do things with. It's hard to meet people in Los Angeles, but I'm determined to do so. In the meantime, I'll be out on the weekends with the friends that are still here. Good luck in your search.
