I noticed a bunch of different styles of pictures here.  There are the ones who hold out one arm like they're trying to reach for something on the top shelf (I did that one) and there are people holding out both arms like Superman.  A lot of women have pictures of themselves in bride's maid dresses or standing next to some poor dude we can't really see but know used to be there by an eyeball or the corner of his mouth and maybe 2 teeth.  Whoever this dude is he was clearly happy when the picture was taken judging by the sliver of his face I can see.  I'm not forgetting those of you who have webcam pictures where you're nonchalantly looking at something off to the right (sometimes left but usually right) perhaps with a slight grin or look of too-cool-for-school boredom.

Anyway, we all chose the pictures we decided to put up for a reason. Who knows what that reason is?  I don't like posting pictures of myself because I think I look stupid, dorky, or like I'm trying to look cool, but I'd probably never get any attention if I didn't post anything.  I honestly will almost never look at anyone's profile if there isn't at least one picture.  You know, now that I think of it, there isn't really even a point to this.  I'm bored and rambling.  I wonder if I should even press submit or if I should just abandon it and go to bed..........

Ugh!  taking my own picture is horrible.

Then when I think I have the right picture, it never gets noticed.  Hmm.   maybe its just me that doesn't get noticed.

*sigh*  but never feel ashamed to blog about something.  It helps take the frustration or stuff out of your mind so you can relax a bit.

I have to say I'm a real poser in my pics, but if I'm going to market myself might as well do the best I can .. right? All my pics were taken on my cheap webcam and I have to say I was amazed at how good they came out. Being cheap it erased all the wrinkles, what else would a woman my age want? lol Sparkles ... Wave back and yes had to look twice at the pic but do like this pic of you better. Sorry to hear about the relationship but am glad what you have gained from being with him .... he is right. :) AmuseMe ... love that pic of you, you should put it on your profile.

Well the new pic is on!! Hope those that were used to seeing me around, its been a while,...actually recognise me?! She says giving a little queenie hello all wave ;-)) Being so shy in real life, well a little bit maybe, have to admit to having absolute camera paranoia!!! I go through friends digitals & p them off completely by deleting any pics with me in them and the family learnt long ago to keep actual photographs...even ones of childhood well away from me...as I would steal & destroy! All it took to come to this new found self confidence of looking at & keeping a pic...was to be told on a regular basis...how beautiful I was to him....the relationship may not have lasted but the anewed self esteem did!

AmuseMe - Lol you called me out.  Yup, I'm guilty of 2 in 1.  I'm so ashamed.

LonelyinFL - I can't tell any of that from a picture, you're right.  From your picture I can just tell you're smiling a little and the exit to your head is on the upper left.

Naughtbbw - I have a pic of me looking off to the side and "cool" thus killing two birds with one picture.   I also have a smiling pic and a full body pic of me when I was actually bigger than I am today.  I've met 2 women from this site now and neither one seemed disappointed or thought they were getting something other than what was advertised lol.  They both wanted to see me again so hopefully that means I did something right.

islandgal - Taking hundreds of pics is something I'm actually not guilty of.  The 2 pics I have posted of me that I took myself are first takes.  I hate taking pictures and while I did pick which ones got posted I didn't make much of an effort to edit or pick and choose which ones got posted.  From the beginning I was afraid of making myself look good and being a disappointment during a meeting.

Butterbll - Thanks dude. That's flattering and...........alittle disturbing.  Jk,  I know you weren't talking to me.

There have been plenty of blogs on here about the photo or lack thereof .... for me (whilst it's no guarantee of course!) it can be a step in the right direction of someone demonstrating they are who they say they are. Where would we be without digital cameras so we can take 900 shots to try and find one halfway decent one?! (Or is that just me?!) And chosing the "one arm up" pose that for me says "I'm taking this pic myself because I don't trust my mates to take a decent one and it doesn't matter if I need 100s of attempts 'cos I don't have to pay to get them developed" A photo on here is just a guideline I think ...... gives us a first chance to filter out the definite "nos" (for me that might be a guy who looks like he hasn't heard the first thing about hygeine and grooming, or a guy who thinks we want to see him in a state of undress sat by his pc ) but equally gives us a chance to spot something that sparks some interest like a lovely smile or a twinkle in the eyes.

Nerdy, you're quite observant. If you are observant *AND* remember things, then you are 99.9% Mr. Wright. (The W is there to remind you that you will still be wrong at times). Since I'm not into posting pics, I don't usually go out of my way to look at other people's pics either. It's a personal choice. But, I have noticed those pics you've mentioned...the ones that look like the person only dates body parts (a disembodied hand, a twitchy piece of hair, an ear, etc.). It makes you wonder if you, as a complete human, would be too much for that person to handle. I've also seen the pics taken with cells or cameras with no auto timer. Those are usually the ones that make you wonder why they couldn't ask a friend/child/stranger to take the pic. I mean if they're tasteful, clothed shots, the Japanese tourist always toting his camera would be more than happy to take your pic on any given day. I think that if you take a pic and post it, you're a step ahead of folks like me. But, I also think that if you're taking a pic, there should be at least one pic of Every Day You. So, for the hundred thousand bridesmaids with a dismbodied arm on their shoulders who took 17 hours to do hair and makeup and had on 2 girdles for the dress to close, posting at least one Every Day You pic will save you countless heartache when you go for a first meet and the guy doesn't spend the whole time wondering where your younger, thinner, prettier, and more put-together cousin is. But, maybe I'm rambling like Nerdy now. ;-)

Who really likes pictures of themselves? We just try to find the best ones and post'em. Personally, I'd like to burn every picture of me from 3rd grade to my junior year in HS. I was such a dork, At least now I'm relatively comfortable in my own skin. I never got rid of my dorky tendencies though...I still love computers, poetry, Shakespeare, Poe, and romantic comedies. Can you tell that by a picture?

LOL. Your quite funny. Oh, and you're reaching AND looking off nonchalantly to the right. Don't worry, you are not alone in thinking that when you try to take a cool picture it just makes you look fake or put-on. Just do it anyway. lol
