I started graying when I was 13. I've always had a few strays that stayed hidden well. Over the last few years, Miss Clairol and I have become very good friends, though.
I think (most) men look really good with a little gray at the temples or a few grays in the beard. But, with men who have long hair, I just think it makes them look old -- and in denial. I have that same feeling about women with gray, though. When the hair is short and groomed, I think a woman with gray hair looks good. But, put that same woman in long gray hair and it's a major turnoff.
My ex used to tell me that he didn't like me to dye my gray. He wanted a "mature" look. But, I continued to dye anyway since I would prefer to look no older than I am. So, as I once again made my acquaintances with Miss C, I wondered to myself... What does the rest of the world think of gray hair?
So, as someone who's going to fight old age and gray hair for a while, I am wondering what your opinions are.

silver hair is a sign of ''GLORY'' IF IT IS FOUND IN RIGHTEOUSNESS meaning if you a christian and are gray its a sign of glory and if your not christian it still looks good on you. if somebody gonna judge you on the color of your hair what it is bout him that is lacking? be proud of who you are and only change when you want to not do it for somebodyelse. we, as women are beautiful regardless of our skin tone, hair color or size of our bodies.if any man can't see us that way we don't want him anyway!

I think it depends on how the gray hair looks on you and if you like the way you look with it. Some people can carry it really well. My hair is mainly fading in color and not so much graying and has to be topped up regularly. I dont really care what other people think, its about how I feel about myself and for me that mean keeping that redhead for as long as I can. Though do hope that all that dye does not make me bald. lol

You are very sweet Neal! I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. I've been "killing" myself at work again and I'm about ready to call the CDC about all of the illness going around...can't seem to catch a break lately. I'm taking Shirley to the fair tomorrow...what are you doing?

Well as a natural blonde (hey that's what it says on the packet, lol!) I guess I'm lucky that the platinum (cough) strands blend in fairly well.
Doesn't stop me lending a helping hand though ... mostly at a salon, and more recently reminding my lovely stylist that I'm the wrong side of 30 (I don't tell her by how much!) so don't do anything that will make me look like mutton.
I agree that grey tends to suit guys better but I know a few women who have managed to make the silver vixen look work for them with a good cut that suits them, and keeping it in tip top condition.
I can also bring to mind a few guys who have reached for the bottle and look tragic; espeially going from grey to black on one embarrassing leap!
Guess there are some inequalities there :)

I'm in the same boat...I've had some grey hair since I was in high school. I used to color my air a different color than my natural color because I liked to (I used to be blonde growing up but then it turned to light to med brown). But then the grey really started to grow in. I think I'd be ok it it was a nice silver or white color but its not....it's a dark ash gray. Thank you Granny! :( LOL So, now I've found this "med golden brown" that I love and it's close to my natural color (similar shade just richer...my own is a dull mousy brown which makes the grey stand out). Oh, and I tried Ms. Clairol but but the color always went to the exteme (its just the way my hair is)...so I get done professionally about every 6 months. I've always looked older than my age now I'm finally catching up...I can't let my grey ruin that! :)
