I have been interested in seeing more plus size models. I am on a mission to see diversity. Beauty does not come in a one size fits all. There are so many body types, ethnicities, heights, and looks. I just think that more should be represented. I have googled and found some information about plus size modeling. I quickly get sent to a site that has major "adult content". So it leads me to this question... Is our only way to become a plus size model by having more adult content to how we model? What do u all think?

Thanks ladies for you comments and suggestions. I found them all very informative. I think that every body type should be represent because we are all different. We have all been conditioned in some way are another to feel that thin is in. That is so not true. We are all diverse and beautiful human being. I just did not understand why we are just looked at for adult entertainment purposes. The UK ad is darling. I love it.

A UK department store (Debenhams) lanched a campaign this year for one of their ranges, Principles, using an interesting range of models .... one a UK size 10, one a "plus size" 16, a wheel chair user and a petite lady (5ft4") The idea is along the lines of everyone should have the opportunity to look good. I hope the ops allow the picture to be shown as I think it's a good one and a step in the right direction. For me, having a mixed group of people is more realistic than using all stick thin models, all curvaceous or whatever. I think they all look stunning, and it's more inclusive for most women.

I do think it is sad that we are so conditioned by the media as to what looks good and what is normal. Personally I love the idea of bigger size models appearing in our magazines but do have to be honest that on the occassion that I have seen one, my first impulse was to feel that they are out of place and perhaps should not be there. This of course is not what I think or would like, rather countless years of conditioning on what I expect to see. I do wonder how many of us would buy the magazines if they really did show women in their all rounded beauty?

Life is only as wonderful as you think it is.

Quoting smoosh

I think it is too bad that the only plus size modelling offered/available is for "adult sites" as I am sure plus size reatilers should have plus size models show their goods. Nothing I hate more than seeing a size 8 "not show" how a size 24 would look in an outfit. Such is life and reality. One size does not fit most.

Several years ago I worked for a mail order clothing company for a while and they had a plus size range. When the new range came out and we were talked through all the items I spoke up and asked why the range was all modelled on "regular" sized women. The owner said they tried to find good plus size models and the could find very few, and the ones they found were already working for rival companies. He even asked me if I'd be interested in doing something for them - that's how desperate they were, lol!!! (Not enough make up and air brushing in the world etc etc!) I think it's improved slightly now, in the UK at least. You see more curvy models in the plus size ranges, but they are probably just a UK 16-18 tops (12-14 in US sizing I think?) Hollaatyagurl ..... try searching for something like plus size catwalk model or fashion model - it might filter out the "adult" content and get you the sites you're looking for?
