Music choice tonight…The Little Willies (old fashioned twang country)

Drink choice…Ice tea (sometime nothing but the classics will do.)

I’ve been reading articles on online dating.  I came across one that offered advice to guys.  The article stated that nice girls don’t make the first move and if they do, they generally reek of desperation (his words not mine).  The rebel in my wants to scream at the author “Some of us “nice girls” will make the first move and maybe the problem is you’re choosing girls instead of women.”  But the truth of it is, I’ve been waiting for a guy (any guy, it seems) to make the first move.  Most of the time, I’m not sure what to say even after they do.  So I have 2 questions for you:

Girls – What would it take to get you to make the first move?  What’s your best opening line?

Guys – Is it a bad thing for a woman to make first contact?  What is the one thing she could say to make you not want to talk to her again?

i guess this subject is as good as any to get back into this. ladies, be bold, i am just starting back on this site after being gone several years. that's right i met someone, she passed away over a year ago but we had a wonderful relationship. she was bold and made first connect in spite of being older then i was looking for and living farther away then i thought i would go. ladies, do whatever you think is right and if the guy doesn't like your style he is not for you anyway. as for what it takes to make me answer a woman..."hi" works for me :)

Butterball,

I have always liked HeeHaws version of that saying, which is "You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil has to be lead".  As for who makes the first move....well I have been known to do just that, yet at this point in time it doesn't seem that there is much movement at all!  Suffice to say still waiting.

I feel it is  is ok  for a woman to make the first move . Because sometimes us guys can be like a horse and have blinders on.  We can  be totally oblivious to  what is beyond the veiw in front of us. Remember  you can lead a horse to water  but you can not make him drink , till he is ready.

No, I don't think it's bad for a woman to make the first move. And in my humble opinion, it certainly doesn't make her look desperate :)

For me, the one thing to garauntee not to talk to her again, is to ask for money when we hardly know each other.

Online dating is hard. It's too easy for someone to hide behind their computer or laptop screen.

While I know there are a lot of guys only interested in gettong their rocks off on sites like this. There are also guys that are here for genuine reasons. Some of us can be shy to begin with. So it's actually nice if a woman makes the first move

:) Martin
