This is the blog of a friend who recently had a humiliating experience with SOUTHWEST AIRLINES. Thought I'd post it and see if any of you have experienced the same or something similar??????

I'm currently in Louisiana on vacation from Oregon. The COntinental airline flight was loooooong and very uncomfortable. The seat was extreamly small and I did have to request an extender. I was in the window seat and both connecting flights found myself seated next to yet another larger person which made things even more uncomfortable. The Gentleman tried ever so hard not to have to rest his elbow against my b00b, but 2 hours into the flight, he could no longer hold his arm in an unatural position. I quickly let the embarressed man know that all is well and not to worry about it. I wouldnt be filing sexual harrassment charges against him. Alaskan airlines seem to have much better seats. I still had to ask for an extender, due to a pathetic 2 more inches, but the arms of the chairs were a bit wider apart and didnt feel like I was trying to squeeze my hips into a sardine can. Come Wednesday, I'll once again grace the terminal with my wide load to head back home. I've wised up though, I packed a shoe horn in my purse!

Your friend must have gotten that "one in a millon" bad flight crews. SOUTHWEST has been my preffered aitline for the past several years. Whenever flying them, I try and get the seats in the front row or failing that, get the ones midcabin next to the doors. The reason why I do that is because they're usually the most roomy and comfortable ones. I just hope that your friend didn't get seated next to some jerk though because there's nothing to be done about that; other than to alert a steward or stewardess.

Sorry you were humiliated. I've been in the bloodmobile but never had that problem. I can't believe it - 'cause I am very heavy. I too have problems w/some seats 'cause baby definitely got back ! ! ! LOLOL But what I don't understand is why in doctors' offices especially they have those narrow width chairs......

I have had problems fitting into airline seats. I definatly want to work on my weight some more before I'll fly again. That by no means I won't fly until I'm thin. I may never be thin. Still loosing a bit of weight would make it easier. The seatbelt barely fit and was uncomfortable...I didn't think to ask for an extender. I've had it be painful to get into the seats at the movie theater. Now that I've lost some weight it's easier. I dropped about 50 lbs when I started my current job because we walk so much. The worst though was getting kicked out of the red cross bloodmobile because I exceeded the weight limit for their beds. *That* was an all time low because I'd donated blood at that bloodmobile every year. As I said I've lost so I can once again donate there. I don't hold any hard feelings against the red cross. I was simply embarrassed.
