Was wondering which you find to be better in our fashion Cato or Lane Bryant? I seem to spend less at Cato but Lane Bryant seems to actually carry the size they say the put on the label what do you guys think?

I am Canadian and I find that americans have such an aray of choice when it comes to specialty clothing stores. I have only been able to shop at one store that offer plus size clothes --Pennington's. They go up to size 32/5x. There are other stores like Addition Elle or Cotton Ginny but they only offer "smaller" plus-size...up to 24. But Pennington's is the only store that offer higher then 24. Let me tell you..its not always fun to just be able to shop in one particular store...there is just so much of one type of fashion a woman can buy. Plus, they dont offer hip, younger styles which I like. I am close enough to cross the border once in awhile to shop in the US but with the exchange rate...not so convinient. I see in the US..you have LB, Fashion Bug, Catherine, Avenue, Cato, JC Penney also offer ordering thru catalogue, and so on. I wish these stores would ship to Canada but they dont so I am stuck always shopping in the same store. I have ordered from the JC Penny catalogue before since they ship to Canada but if the clothes doesnt fit...it expensive to send back.

I love cato's clothes but find the same problem as you do. But if you are anything like me I wear all differant sizes. So I have to go and try everything on.

I've never heard of Cato, but would sure like to see more plus size stores around. I used to be a loyal Lane Bryant customer, until they seemed to stop carrying sizes above a 22/24. So I almost shop Catherine's almost exclusively and have done so since they used to be called P.S. On occasion, I can find things in my size at Avenue or Fashion Bug Plus, but not as often as I do with Catherine's. I rarely leave there without making a purchase.

Cato's have pretty nifty jeans, but the intimate items dont last. ie panties, bra's ........run small. Lane Bryant can't be beat for quality stuff. Its just double or triple priced. Fashion Bug has the best jackets, coats, and some pretty nice swimwear, its cheaper to buy than Lane Bryant..........all in all, get jeans at cato's or Fashion Bug. Tops at lane bryants.....bras and panties from Lane Bryant really are good! I hate the Spanks though. Has anyone tried them???

I like shopping from Making It Big. They carry a lot of natural fabrics and their stuff runs long, which is a plus for me at my height. Making It Big also has the "plus size" models. They do FREE SHIPPING to you and FREE SHIPPING on the returns. I have ordered 10 pair of shoes and returned 9 of them. Along with my height comes big feet. I'm certain God gave me these babies so as to keep me from tipping over and they do work 99% of the time. Zappos carries all styles and all sizes.

Never heard of Cato's...Like Catherines..Have bought from Lane Bryant Stores for dance costume pieces.Mostly, I guess I buy from Catherines but in Maine there isn't much to choose from. oh yeah Fashion Bug only when it is on sale. I have found that the quality isn't worth the price.... Sorry I also sew most of my own clothes. and don't forget Wally World for a few things

I prefer Catherine's myself. Cato's and Lane Bryant in my area cater to the real young ladies and I am realistic enough to know I am not 18 any more! Bigheart-it's great to see a man admit he does have a feminine side!

I have never heard of Cato. I do like Lane Bryant. The clothes last a long time and I found they are well worth the price. The deals are fabulous. The last shirt I bought there was priced at $49.50 and it was on sale I got it for $7.78. I am not top heavy and their clothes seem to be more geared toward the VERY well endowed. Happy Shopping. I have never heard or seen a Cato, but out here in so-cal at least there are two interesting stores that opened recently. Torid.... looks like the store for BBW's with attitude. Victoria's Secret has opened a new arm of their stores for the bigger women and Lord help me I can't think of the name but it sounds like Cashay? Anyway, ladies let me know what ya think of these stores.

I work a full time job for an attorney but i do work a couple of days a month for lane bryant.. the discount is great thats how i can afford all the clothes forty percent off and then once a month 55 percent off and your discount applies to the other stores owned by the company like fashion bug and catherines which caters to older plus size women but one thing is the lane bryant catalog is completely different from the store.. i think that when it comes to fashion each woman has her own style. its how she looks and feels in whatever she wears. where ever she buys it at.

Cato has cute clothes and you are right, the sizes are not true to the label. I do think that Lane Bryant's clothing is over priced for the quality, but I shop there quite a bit. I have found a way to get around their high prices, though: coupons!! And I do believe that I receive some in the mail every month. I don't remember if they still do this, but they used to have a good sale on the first Tuesday of each month. The prices would be slashed really low--compared to what the original prices were--and I would find a lot of good bargains. I haven't gone clothes shopping for a couple of months, but the last time that I went to Lane Bryant's, I purchased $233 worth of clothes for $100 plus tax. (Felt like I was stickin' it to the man!!) I don't know if you have one in your area, but Ashley Stuart has some cute things. Better chance of finding stuff though, if you are no larger than size 22-24. A lot of their stuff is trendy and the quality can be a bit iffy, but you can find some cute at low and reasonable prices. They also have goo-gabs of costume jewelry really, really cheap. A great place to go when you want to dress a little hoochy. One thing that I love about Ashley Stuart is that the clothing is for the big girl with attitude.

I agree u can save at Cato but I love Lane Bryant department store. I find sexier things that I can dress up in and feel good in. Its a good bit more but seems to last longer. I mean they have corsets and all kinds of things that make bigger women feel beautiful and they fit well. Try and get a department credit card if you haven't all ready. Try Avenue also.

We can only get Lane Bryant from ordering on the net in my part of Canada (not sure if there are Lane Bryant stores at all), and I quite like it; their sizes are bigger as compared to other stores (a 14 can fit like a 16 or a 18). I know I'd like to have Torrid stores too, they seem to have a wide range of sizes.

I don't do Cato. It's like a mini K-Mart (shite clothes that fall apart) and Lane Bryant's okay for bra's and panties; jackets and casual wear but their style caters to the more younger crowd (and there is nothing worse than a 30+ something trying to look 18 IMHO - unless in the bedroom!). I am an Avenue chick.
