WWGuy, thanks for the compliment and for your explanation. I rarely watch tv or televangelists so I really don't know anything about Dr. Kennedy. I do however think some people just take things to the total extreme. It saddens me that many Christians (and I am one) seem to totally miss the point that Christians are supposed to love God and love their neighbor as themselves. If one does, how does one "hate" anyone, unless one hates themselves? Many men also seem to cherry-pick the Bible, stop at the verse where it says women are to be submissive to their husbands and don't bother reading the rest of the chapter which goes on to explain that a man is to lead his family with character-the character of Christ Jesus. Paul, who had a well known reputation for being a mysogonist was addressing an audience in Ephisus, a very Patriarchal and male-centric culture and was telling men it's not about dominance or chauvinism; a great leader inspires others to have confidence in themselves, brings out the best in others, and is nurturing. The word translated from Greek as submit, in non-military use meant a voluntary attitude of giving in, cooperating, assuming responsibility, and carrying a burden. A husband is to love his wife as he loves himself; just as he figures out what he himself needs he is to figure out what she needs and meet those needs. What many people seem to miss is that Christ GAVE UP HIS LIFE out of love and is the example that men are to follow. So what does that mean to men? Are they to be dishrags for women? No, but they are to be servant leaders as was Christ, not dictatorial, cruel or abusive. They are to unselfishly say 'you first' and loving try to meet the needs of their wife. And a wife is to be cooperative and share responsibility with him and help him out when he needs help. I find it interesting that men are told to love their wives, but women are not told to love their husbands. Perhaps the reason is because if a man loves his wife and puts her needs first she in turn is going to love him?

Mr. Afternoons, I will have you know that women do indeed still wear ribbons as gayly as once upon a time. We just don't wear them in our hair. Thong panties and bras darling, all relevant material. Perhaps, in this day and age of instant self gratification, if the male lent more time toward keeping the female satisfied, she would indeed endeavor to smile at him warmly, to make him as comfortable as possible and to fill his belly and heart with everything he could possibly desire. Superlative as your love making genius is, I doubt you have any problem obtaining warm smiles and ladies lined up gleefully dancing a jig to celebrate your arrival. ;)

LOL... Slightly pejorative remark there WWGuy! Who exactly are you referring to as the Christian right and exactly what theocracy are you referring to? (the only theocracy I see being supported these days is that of secularism). Thanks! Wondering Wanda

I agree Wanda. I think this is why while most women these days who are married and have been for a while wish they were single.. and every day more and more single women are glad to be living alone. Like me, I'd adore a loving relationship with a good man.. but I don't want to live with him! ;)

We are sitting here laughing but I dated a guy this year whose mother very clearly suggested that I should treat her son that way. I am all for doing things for a guy, I think we should do things for each other, but I think he can be all for doing things for me as well. Women's lib got us into the workplace but we are still often stuck in the kitchen and laundry room afterwards, while the guys lounge around playing on the computer or watch tv.

Back in the day, they really did not have a choice because women were not expected and sometimes not even allowed to be financially independent. So, if you wanted to eat, have a roof over your head and some of the staples and luxuries of life, then you had better be a "good wife"...or have enough money and good sense to hire someone who could do all of those chores cheaply for your husband.

I'm told I learned to read by studying the girdle and bra ads in magazines when I was very young! No kidding. Talk about missing your advertising target; however, I'm eternally greatful!

LOL Wanda. Possibly. I do that now just because "I" don't want to look at them! lol You'd think that if these A-holes really behaved like that, and expected their women to behave like that, you'd WANT them to go elsewhere for some lovin'. I would. I can't believe my grandmother had to put up with that crap. Men have been spoiled for so long, is it any wonder why WE demand it's OUR turn now?? Why MOMS are the best! A Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed" She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches. Rinsed out the popcorn bowls, took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening, checked the cereal box levels, filled the sugar container, put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning. She then put some wet clothes in the dryer, put a load of clothes into the washer, ironed a shirt and secured a loose button She picked up the game pieces left on the table, put the phone back on the charger and put the telephone book into the drawer. She watered the plants, emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry. She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom. She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher, counted out some cash for the field trip, and pulled a text book out from hiding under the chair. She signed a birthday card for a friend, addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store. She put both near her purse. Mom then washed her face with 3 in 1 cleanser, put on her Night solution & age fighting moisturizer, brushed and flossed her teeth and filed her nails. Dad called out, "I thought you were going to bed." "I'm on my way," she said. She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside, then made sure the doors were locked and the patio light was on. She looked in on each of the kids and turned out their bedside lamps and TV's, hung up a shirt, threw some dirty socks into the hamper, and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework. In her own room, she set the alarm; laid out clothing for the next day, straightened up the shoe rack. She added three things to her 6 most important things to do list. She said her prayers, and visualized the accomplishment of her goals. About that time, Dad turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular. "I'm going to bed." And he did. Big & Bizman - stick your tongues back in your cheeks. ;)

LOL! Not only believe it, they did it! I had a friend tell me today his mother would cut out all the pictures of ladies wearing underwear or nightwear from the Sears catalog so he and his brothers wouldn't see it! Or maybe so her husband wouldn't see it?
