In your rocking-chair, by your window dreaming, shall you long, alone. In your rocking-chair, by your window, shall you dream such happiness as you may never feel. –Theodore Dreiser

Re: wyldechild write: Thin skin right on top of bone. No padding or muscle to soften the pain.

My toe tattoo hurt alot but since it was small it only lasted less than 5 minutes and I didn't have any pain afterwards in the healing time. But my back tattoo was 45 minutes of extreme pain. Part of it was on my spine and that was worse but all of it hurt like the devil. I passed out afterwards because it hurt so much (that was embarrassing). I know I have no tolerance for pain so I couldn't imagine getting a large tattoo on areas with no padding. They would have to knock me out and then do it. lol

Re: staceynkansas write: Love the tatt!! And yes, a career change and I am scared to death but also so excited. I went back to college last year to get my bachelors in accounting and I graduate in April, 2008 so I am hoping to be able to find a job end of this year since I will be a few months from graduation. I will also be moving to another city so it will be a time of change for me. lol

Good for you!!! It never hurts to make a change, especially when it's for the best. And a whole new city to dazzle as well!!! *grin*

Re: staceynkansas write: My work place is pretty casual and pretty good as long as the tat isn't vulgar. But I am making a career change end of the year and I don't know where I will end up and what type of work environment it will be. So I will have to wait on the neck tattoo. What is your neck tattoo? Did it hurt worse than other areas?

Ah, a career change, fun!!! Nerve racking a bit too I bet. Here's a pic of my lovely neck...*wink*. It needs a bit of recoloring, I've had it for about 17 yrs or so... Now I have to say, getting a tat doesn't bother me much but yes, one on the neck will hurt more than one on a softly padded area. But, I would say less pain that the top of the foot...LOL.

Where they work is pretty casual. My second tat was on the back of my neck. At the time, I was working corporate and tats were NOT cool (I won't say how long ago...*wink*). There's a company in another building in our office park. There's a gal who has one on her ankle and if she wears anything that doesn't hide it, she covers it with a big band-aid/guaze pad. What a pity...

Re: staceynkansas write: I have never seen an ear tattoo. That is interesting but wouldn't work in my line of work. lol I would like on the back of my neck at the hairline, something real simple.

There's a company in another building in our office park that is still anal about tats. Re: staceynkansas write: The circles are center lower back, actually more on my rump. It is way below the beltline. It represents the trinity (Father, Son & Holy Spirit). It is pretty big, about about 7 inches across. I will get more but it hurt so bad that I am going to wait awhile. lol The one on my toe is a cross with a chain around it, like a toe ring.

Good place. There's a gal in the building where I work that has a couple of toe "ring" tats and one on her ear, the upper part, it's neat. The artist who did my first two had his name tattooed on the inside of his lower lip. He was quite the interesting character...and I will leave it at that...LOL

I had to call several tattoo places before I could find one to do a toe ring. He said that he could not guarantee the results and wouldn't do free touch-ups on it. He said the problem is that the skin sheds more on toes and it may last a short time before it is gone. I have had mine a year and it is just as dark and clear as when I got it. He said if you wear a lot of running shoes it will wear off faster. I dress up for work so I wear open-toed shoes alot.

Like it!!! Where is it? I like symbols. I am thinking of getting a couple of kanji symbols next. I have a piece on my right ankle that I started last summer that I want to add to soon.

Amuse, nice tat... Louge, you should get one. My sister and I went a few weeks before my 30th birthday and got matching tats. She has hers on her leg (lots of pain) me on one of the girls...nice fleshy area (hardly any pain) I want another one - A hummingbird, a cross and roses all intertwined - not sure where I want it; so best that I wait.

Hi yall dragging up old blogs cause I saw this cool poem that just fits. It is a nice tat Amuse - looks like the artist did realy detailed fine work too. So here is the tattoo poem. It is a little odd but I like it. i like the idea of a tiny dessert tattoo....Any suggestions for something other than icecream that might make a good tat?... a cup cake, a twinkie, cherries jubilee??? The icecream may be the best.... INK by Bob Hicok I feel obligated to get a tattoo. It's how the skin of the species is evolving. If I continue living without plumage, it will be impossible to mate or hold a conversation with a banker. My favorite is strawberry ice cream. Not average size scoops, Baskin and Robbins size scoops but three and tiny I discovered one night tattooed to a thigh. It was the possibility of kissing a private dessert I so admired. I've decided to get tattoos of my eyes on the inside of my eyelids so I can stare at the oceans of my dreams. I'll have muscles tattooed to my chest, money to my palms, the smell of honeysuckle to my breath. I want break glass in case of fire tattooed to my brain, mouths to the bottom of my feet, you to me. There is not enough art in this life. Tattoo my front door to my tombstone and place a key on my tongue like a mint. It's not for me to decide whether my return will be called breaking out or breaking in.
